Project Patina Burb

I picked up this 1972 burb down in Olive Branch, MS, about 4 hours away from me. It is a really solid burb. A couple of rust spots, but overall it's real solid.

Not a fan of the rear of it too much, but it's growing on me. I plan on drilling out the door handles so I'm not leaving them shaved. The guy has the parts for a 67 front end already and that was a selling point for me.

It has 2 inch drop coils in the front, 4 inch in the rear w/1in block, Drop Shocks all the way around and it's already been C-Notched. Also already has the Adjustable Track Bar installed. He gave me a set of bags to go with it because I've toyed with the idea of just bagging the rear to get it lower. I'll probably try my luck with schrader valves if I do.

Came with all new weatherstripping except for the rear side windows.

My plans(as of now)

5.3/6.0 LS Engine
67 Front end
Lower it more!!!
Going to go Blue and White Patina
Newer Chevy Tahoe Seats

I'll also cut out that dash and put the factory one back in there.

Going to part ways with the seats, don't know what they are worth, but it did come with the hold downs.

Well, here's the deal. I can't find any weight rating for this series of air springs. The 100psi max rating on the bag scares me a little. It has a 9"nominal outside working diameter but that isn't the max diameter. I can't even find anything that says what it's intended use is. If it were mine I'd try it if the diameter isn't too big.

the plate is 6.5 inches

Re: Project Patina Burb

I saw that. I found every spec. for them except for the weight rating, which is what I thought would be the most important one:D

Subscribed, should be an awesome cruiser. I once went to Olive Branch to pick up a truck. Mine didn't come home on a trailer, but it probably should have;)

Got a little done today.

I started on my fauxtina paint job

http://i299.photobucket.com/albums/m...-23-16_523.jpg

I also yanked out the automatic steering column with no tilt and unbolted the dash. I guess I'm going to have to take a sawsaw to it and cut it out. It looks like the just covered it with another piece because I can see the old dash behind it.

got anything done on this lately:D

Re: Project Patina Burb

Not much, started the patina paint job, but that's about it. I'm having to find the door handles on the third door and the driver's door. It's made me lose a little interest.

Re: Project Patina Burb

the front is more than 2 inches... it has stepped lower control arms too. You have a 3 or even 4 inch drop up front once the motor goes in.

5150 05-18-2011 06:19 PM

Re: Project Patina Burb

I'll definitely be getting rid of those lower control arms.

Is that something made we can find dimensions for in the factory assembly manual for ya?
