Still not great access to the pump/sending unit(s) but I think I can get em out?

Mine was a 1/2 ton swb, but I still ended having to drop the tank. Luckily I have a transmission jack that was used to raise and lower the tank. Of course you always need to do it right after you fill the tank.

If your going to drop the tank one of these makes short work of nearly emptying the tank once you get it going.

Should be able to get them out at an angle... I've had the sending units in and out of my '88 K30's tanks more than I'd like to admit. They're about the same distance away from the cab as what yours are. Tight, but can be done!

You are correct, tight but can be done :chevy:

Unfortunately the pump is good, I replaced it anyway. The good thing is I needed to address the second tank that’s never worked.

Excellent! Sure beats dropping the tank down... Hopefully the other side goes the same.

Trying to locate the oil pressure switch on the back of the engine. Next to or behind the distributor, this a fully loaded truck so that area is a bit full. I laid back there for 20 minutes searching and couldn’t locate it .....aaaarg!

350 or 454? I'd assume they're in the same spot on either? Can grab a location pic on my '88 tomorrow if I can stuff the camera in there. Has a 350.

It’s a 454,

I just did an engine overhaul/reinstall on my 87 V10 5.7 a couple weeks ago and I know exactly where it is on that truck. This one, can’t find it....actually don’t think there is one ?

I do have an '86 K30 with a 454 too. The oil gauge in the dash doesn't work so the previous owner ran an aux dash gauge and a copper line to a fitting on the front of the block... just about next to the harmonic balancer. I don't remember if the sending unit for the factory gauge was there too...

If you're still having trouble locating, give me a holler and I'll take another gander.

Depending on application, the 454's can have the oil pressure switch located just above the oil filter or drivers side of the block near front of engine....

I believe they moved the location to ease access, especially on Camaros and RV's....

Just finished bolting the bed back down, both tanks working and I don’t know what I did  I replaced the bad left tank fuel pump which I haven’t used in years. I’ve run off the right tank only and that’s the one that left me stranded, pump was fine in it. I unplugged every connection from the fire wall back and maybe that was it, oh well, I’ll drive it tomorrow.

Not the easiest one man job I’ve done....

Thanks for all the help !

Would still like to have that in my garage. LOL. Been thinking about looking for another one and this one always comes to mind only second to the 86 that I shouldn't have sold.
