1977 K10 Scottsdale

Starting to work on the 1977 K10 aka "The Brown Truck" that was given to me by my Grandfather. He bought it new and I acquired in back in 1997 with around 55,000 miles on it. Of course now it has probably has closer to over 200K on it. Speedo stopped working years ago so I've lost track.
The truck has been neglected since around 2003.

I have many ideas of what I'd like to do to it. At the moment I'd like to focus on fixing the rust in the floor, rebuild the Th350 trans, and the front steering and ball joints need addressed. Put the original Steel wheels and hub caps back on then start driving it. I'd like to keep it a driver and continue to fix things as time allows.

I've gone back and forth on putting 3/4 ton running gear under it for several reasons. I do have access to some free axles. At the moment I don't want to run 4:10 gears, also not wanting to put time into the swap or finding 8 lug wheels. So this will go on the later plans.

Here are some pics from a long time ago

I'm currently researching rebuilding the Th350 and have found some helpful threads on here. I've never rebuilt one however I'd like to try.

If anyone has advice on which rebuild kit to get I'm open for input. There are many to choose from. Stock rebuild kit with shift kit, or something more performance (leaning this way).
Daily driving and occasional camp trailer towing is what the truck will be doing.

Love the vintage pics! Sweet truck.

I've always been comfortable re-building every part of my trucks except the trans. For some reason they've always intimidated me....

If it's going to be a daily/towing vehicle. I would just go with a nice firm shift kit.

Thanks!!
I too am a little intimidated by the thought of rebuilding the trans. However there are good books and threads with lots of help. The trans is ready for a rebuild and it leaks fluid.
