New AC compressor

Can someone reccomend an AC compressor? The fella I bought my 82 from says the compressor failed a few years ago. 350 V8. I have seen a lot of back and forth on these older ones. Was hoping for some recent purchase experience.

I got mine as an overhaul kit from NAPA (their house brand) in around 2015 for my ‘85. I Don’t remember if it included the lines or if I got them separate.

It’s going on 5 years and close to 50,000 miles with no issues. “Knock on wood”.

I did see some kits on their website. Looks like I need to comb over the difference between re4 and sanden and other style compressors too. Thanks.

Before you do a complete replacement, you might verify that it was the compressor that failed and also how it failed. Low freon can keep a compressor from turning on. As can a loose connection. Check all the green wire plugs around the heater/AC housing. Possible one got knocked loose during an unrelated repair.

If a clutch or front bearing went out, those can often be replaced.

I think mine just went out as well.
