Goofing off today...

I went for a little ride. I took some pictures for ya'.
The tires are P255/60R17's measures about 27 1/2" over all.
The rear gear is 4:11.
Transmission is a 86 Camaro 700-R4 with all the upgrades for a corvette.
The torque converter is lockup in both pictures. I have a toggle switch on the dash.

That looks about right for a 4.11 gears, looks like you got some good off the line and decent cruising gears.

Re: Goofing off today...

The speedo is correct. I had it calibrated a couple of years ago for the truck. Had to put another gear on the tailshaft so it's correct for the truck and RPM's.
I just wanted to show how a 700-R4 does even with 4:11 gears. It cruises nicely at 70-80 MPH out on the road. That's nice since it's a 5 hour drive to Myrtle Beach which is where it's going next month for the car show.

Thanks for the post. This is the same exact setup I have in the '70 I'm building and I thought the 4:11 might be a little low with the 700r4. I really wanted to use it since it's a posi. Good to know I should be OK....

Rep for you.

Whats the difference?

Re: Goofing off today...

There are a few differances. The corvette's had all the heavy duty parts installed from the factory, the other's had regular parts installed.
I bought this transmission then had a local shop upgrade everything in it. Newer years already have the better parts installed.
Sorta like the engines in a corvette & Camaro, why not put both engines in both.
