P/S, P/B upgrade help!

Looking to do a Power steering, Power brakes upgrade on our 1964 c-10 with a 350, on the cheep from a newer donor vehicle. If anyone has done this upgrade I am wondering what vehicles are compatable. Any information would be great.

The easiest way is to swap the crossmember and front suspension from a73-87. There are a ton of posts on here about it. It’s almost a direct bolt on.

Just use the spindles from the later model truck (73-87). You are going to want the early ones with the 1 1/4 brake rotor. If you want to keep it 6 lug you can order some rotors from summit for $129 for the pair. You will later model ball joints that will fit in your 64 control arms and outer tie rod, you will need a tie rod sleeve that accepts the two different size tie rods. You have to switch the original outer tie rod to the inner position. I did this to mine not to long ago. I have also used the entire front suspension from a 75, and the control arms will bolt to your 64 cross member. You will have to use the entire front steering components if you want to use the later model control arms. It is a lot more work. http://www.67-72chevytrucks.com/vboa...isc+brake+swap

Here are a couple things you will need to make the upgrade correctly.

Also there is info on just about anything you could possibly want to do to your truck here in the FAQ section including power steering, power brakes, disc brakes, etc.

Definitely use Captainfab's power brake booster bracket & Power steering box bracket. They are the best and reasonably priced. As far as doing it on the cheap - as stated earlier use EVERYTHING from a 73 to 87 C-10 this includes the factory master cylinder, proportioning valve and ALL hard brake lines. You will need to make a bracket to mount the proportioning valve in correct location for a 73 - 87 C-10 but other than that it's all a direct fit. Install all the hard lines but leave them loose. Once all the lines are installed and hooked up then go around and finish tightening them up.

I used EVERYTHING from my 73 donor truck. If you look at the pics I'm sure you'll agree the 73 stuff looks like it was made for our trucks.

That oblong hole by the upper control arm? The 73 C-10 hard brake line was an exact match to line up with that factory hole in the frame where the hard brake line transitions to the flex hose to the brake caliper. Using all the 73 hard lines & master saved me many hours of bending, measuring & flaring brake lines to fit.

Hope this info helps.
