What a shame, K20 in the boneyard

If this truck was on the east coast I'd do whatever I could to save it from the crusher. It's at a yard in Washington.
I called, parts only

Yup that would be an easy $3k up here if it ran, maybe more.

Not uncommon here to find ones like that in the boneyard. I was going after the pedal assembly on one that was in similar condition. Somebody had already pulled the seat and the engine, but the rest of the truck was untouched. Very low miles(60k, iirc) and one owner.

The salvage yard I'm speaking of wouldn't have had qualms about selling it. Everything is for sale at his place. It's just a matter of price.

Sad, but true. I used to see trucks like that in the junkyards in Tucson but not anymore. Same story - once the vehicle is junked the title is no longer available and the vehicle is parts only. The local Pull A Part is now selling some of the better junkers, but square bodies never show up anymore. My guess is that rust free square bodies are now in demand somewhere. Clunker squares on CL now are listed for $3-4K - must be that the frames have value because those trucks are real heaps.

Remember Cash for Clunkers? I lived in Phoenix during that.

I thought that CfC missed the squarebodies. There were some rather odd maximum age cutoffs that mostly restricted it to 90's trucks, iirc.

Edit to add-- Looked it up. CfC was in effect during July and August of 2009. Vehicles up to 25 years old were eligible. Thus, model years 1985+ were at risk, and possibly model year 1984.
