They are both 1.125" bore......I'll have to check on that.

There is also a manual brake version of the early C3 Vette master cylinder for those wanting 4-wheel disc but don't have enough vacuum for a power booster to work properly. If I remember right it has a 1" bore.

Another option for a master cylinder I forgot to mention is, you can also use the Impala SS/Caprice master with those calipers, or a Camaro/Firebird master with the F-body calipers. I don't always think of suggesting those as most guys don't like the looks of the plastic reserviors on those masters.

One thing to note: the '94-96 B-Body (Caprice/Impala SS) setup is very conservative, dang near a 95%-5% split, which is terrible. If you want the rear calipers to come alive with the B-Body master and prop/combo valve setup, you should also consider doing the "stealth bolt" mod (an adjustable prop valve is also an option).

Can you send me directions for payment on the impala brackets for 1968 gm 12 bolt. Do you know if I can get inspection without an emergency brake, I'm in Texas?

I have no idea if Texas requires an e-brake or not. If you have to get a vehicle inspection, more than likely you will have to have an e-brake.

Re: Impala SS Rear Disc Brake Brackets

Can anyone tell me how they plumbed these brakes for the rear? Do I have to use the rubber brake hose with the banjo bolt or can I add an adapter of some sort and plumb the hardline directly into the caliper?

Thanks, Steve

Re: Impala SS Rear Disc Brake Brackets

Some of the older rear disc calipers were plumbed directly with a hard line. I prefer to use a rubber or braided stainless hose from the caliper to the hard line on the axle tube. You can use the one for the Impala with a Metric to SAE adapter.

Texas requires a FUNCTIONAL E-brake on all vehicles so equipped.

Re: Impala SS Rear Disc Brake Brackets

parts are great !!! mounted up no issues at all (: ,

hub size on the impala rotor needs to be opened up to 79.5 mm
great product!!!! thanks

Captainfab 03-23-2013 11:01 PM

Re: Impala SS Rear Disc Brake Brackets

Thanks for the compliment :D

That's strange that you had to open up the center hole of the rotors. I did not have to do that with mine. The typical hub register on a 5 x 5" axle flange is 3.06" or 77.7 mm.

Re: Impala SS Rear Disc Brake Brackets

I'd like a set of these as well, can you PM me Payment info?

For anyone needing calipers Fedex just dropped off a pair of remanufactured Kelsey Hayes loaded Impala SS rear calipers, they came with pads and the brackets. They were on closeout for $50 shipped for the pair ($20.08/ea + $10 shipping) on Rockauto. Since they're on closeout to go along with the cheap price there is no core charge. It doesn't say how many they have left. Being able to get the calipers that cheap I think I should be able to get the swap done with zinc coated slotted rotors for around $250.

Re: Impala SS Rear Disc Brake Brackets

Thanks for the great brackets Captain! Quick question..looks like the brackets mount 2 different ways. Should they mount on the bottom of the axle or the top? I think I've seen pics of Impalas calipers mounted on the bottom but I'm unsure.
Thanks for your help.

Captainfab 05-22-2013 02:22 AM

Re: Impala SS Rear Disc Brake Brackets

When I re-designed these brackets I did so with the idea of the caliper mounting in aprox the 2 O'clock position. However you can mount them however you like. Just be sure the bleeders are on top.
