Re: Coil Overs are here
Looks like a high quality kit. Who makes it?
Nevermind... I saw the QA1 sticker upon further inspection.:metal: |

Re: Coil Overs are here
I’m very interested in pics and a review on the rear upgrade
|
Re: Coil Overs are here
I’ll post some pics of the rear soon. The difference is Un real. Every shock I tried on the rear was either way to soft or hard as a rock. These have 18 settings from very soft to road race hard. I’m on click #4 and loving the ride and the great rebound on bumps. Install was not bad even with my gas tank already in the rear. Probably would have been easier with bed off but not that bad with it on. I have single adjustable but you can get duel adjustable more for road racing app. This is my every day driver , all I want is a nice ride which I got along with a little extra firmness that I can change if I want. Can’t wait to see how the whole package works

Hard part is Done. Plazma cutter is a Must Have!!! Will do the clean up tomorrow and start putting her back together

Re: Coil Overs are here
Very interested in your outcome also.
Please post some pics from the front. Some trucks I’ve seen that are lowered,... the lower a-arms are very close to the ground. |

Re: Coil Overs are here
Have a part # for your front and rear kit? I'm currently looking for what I'm doing with my suspension and have always wanted to go coil over on this thing.

Here’s a pic of the Rear. Sorry I didn’t take pic on install
Here’s the front looking good, almost done. Just rebuilding the rest of front end parts Search QA1 web site for kit part #s don’t go by there price. Speedway and Jegs are your best bet for pricing. Also U Tube has a good video of installs front and rear on a 70 C10. It gives you an idea how much work it is, they make it look easy LOL. Like I said “Plasma Cutter is a must have” for the front |

Just about Done. Need to put brakes on and set the ride height then off for alinement

Here’s how it looks fresh off the jack stands. I need to set the ride height which will take some time getting all 4 corners equal. Haven’t decided if I’m going up or down. Most likely even it out, little up in front a little down in rear. The alinement was close enough to drive around the block. I think I’m really going to like this once everything is set.

All Done. It’s time consuming but I can adjust up or down and there’s 18 settings on the shocks. Right now I’m 4 clicks on the Rear and 6 clicks on the front. The Front is 1/2 inch lower and equal side to side.
Rides is firm, rebound is smooth. I like it A LOT |
Re: Coil Overs are here
Lower a-arm to ground clearance is what?
2”-3”? |

Are you using drop spindles too?
|
Re: Coil Overs are here
That is one of the most needed improvements ..thanks for sharing this all with us ,,
My truck bounced like a ball at times and so went to carrying 4 bags of sand in the bed to make it ride smoother. I am curious just how much play room you have when crossing some of the taller speed bumps . |
Re: Coil Overs are here
Looks nice, I'm glad it all worked out. I would have gotten nervous when the plasma cutter was needed.:metal::metal:

Re: Coil Overs are here
I love a *good* plasma cutter, makes short work.

Re: Coil Overs are here
I went through this install a few weeks back but truck is not back on the ground yet due to a queue of other jobs and I don't have any impressions to share. I agree that the instructions and YouTube videos make it seem like it is a bolt on affair. It is not, especially if you aren't sure what combination of parts are under your truck (these kits essentially require a c10 that is already converted to discs, I had a c20). There is also the added complexity of fixing everything else you find when you dig into your old suspension. In addition to compatibility issues necessitating parts, I also discovered that I needed a pittman arm and out tie rod ends.
Plasma cutter is a must, but don't overthink it. I bought the cheapest one I could find on amazon ($300?). Turns out it is also a pretty decent tig welder. You will find uses on these trucks. You can get a rivet head off in 3 seconds, or cut a clean, straight line down your entire sheet metal in 5-10 seconds when doing your inner rocker. |

Re: Coil Overs are here
I should have asked this before, but do you know how much it dropped in total on the front and rear?
Do you have a rear notch? How much travel do you have? Sorry for the rapid fire questions, I'm doing a static drop in the rear without the coilovers and I'm trying to understand what I can expect. |
Re: Coil Overs are here
The Cool part is it’s like having 18 pair of shocks on your truck. With just the click of a nob on the shock it’s totally different AND you can do it on the side of the road in a couple of minutes.
