Truck Leveling Kits
 

I have a 2015 Chevy Silverado LTZ 2WD and I am in need of tires now and would like to buy a larger tire to make the ride a little better. With the lower profile tire it came with because of the 20" rims I can feel the road a little more than I would like. I have been looking around for leveling kits to lift the front end 2" that would allow me to increase the tire size. I have seen the spacers that go on top of the strut, spacers that go under the strut, and full strut replacement that level it 2".
MY question to any of y'all that may have done this is how has it held up for you? Any issues? Which type brand did you go with and what material? What tire were you able to run.

With 2” lift up front, either spacers or struts, you can squeeze a 33” tire in there. Depending on the tread pattern and if it’s aggressive, you may need to trim a little. No way you’ll get 35” tires in there unless you get a 4-6” lift. For a basic leveling kit, plenty of brands out there that are good.

Use this tire calculator to compare what you have now and what size you want to go to. This will give you overall dimensional change and you can bust out a tape measure and see for yourself what will or won’t work.

Im thinking about going with the Bilstein adjustable strut for thre front which says it will lift the front end 2" and the shocks in the rear. I figure with 77K miles on it now its time for some new suspension parts as well. I plan on keeping this truck for years to come. Anyone used these before?

I know this is older but if you haven't done it yet you will be thrilled with the way the Bilstein's ride. I did a truck for my buddy, had the Rough County blocks under the strut, rode like hell compared to the struts from Bilstein, well worth it.

I installed the 2” rough country Kit. Didn’t notice any difference in ride quality or gas mileage. Recently switched wheels and tires (285/45/22) that’s when the mileage changed.

I will say the best way to level is the Bilsteins, I just couldn’t budget them and the wheel upgrade at the same time.

Not sure about the 15's but a friend had a 2" leveling kit installed on his 06 and it is not able to be aligned. Was a coil strut spacer. Cannot get the camber close. Burns inside of front tires in 10-15k. Maybe plan on upper arms as well if going that route. Personally I would opt for lift spindles. Will not change suspension geometry.

jweb, did you have the speedometer recalibrated in the computer? That is one thing folks forget when they go to taller/bigger tires. Taller tires make it look like you are loosing MPG, but many times you are not.

The 285/45/22 are actually the same diameter as the 20's I took off. I think that's the factory size tire for 22" wheels.

I would like to do a few more mods, then I will have it tuned and the speedo checked.

It's in the shop now getting the axles replaced, hopefully this will fix the 70mph shake.

just did a 2 1/2 inch lift leveling kit plus an add a leaf in the rear on my 2011. i went with the lift struts as I needed new struts on the truck. my 2008 had just the strut spacers and i don't feel a difference in the ride quality. as for mileage if you go bigger with the tire size you do need to re cal the speedo. the kit on my 2011 is a rough country kit i also got new rear shocks from them too when i ordered my kit. i love the ride quality.

I put a CCM leveling kit on with a 1” rear spacer. I went from stock 265/70r18 to 285/70r18. Had a minor rub on aftermarket nerf bars, but trimmed and all good. Been on it for 75k miles and 25k on new tires. No issues with alignment specs or tire wear. It’s a 2011 Suburban 1500.

I used the Rough Country leveling kit on my 19 z71 Suburban and am pleased.
