A/C Compressor Part Question

2 Attachment(s)
Poking around under the hood, actually the hood is off so the poking is much easier especially when your 6'2" like me, I noticed the thing on the front of my A/C compressor looks broken to me. I know squat about A/C but it works on y truck and blows cold. Can someone what this is , what it does, and if I need another where I can source it from. Oh yea, it looks like there are three little bolts holding it on and will be easy to remove, or am I dreaming ?

No loss of refrigerant but it takes special tools to get the clutch and pulley off.

I just did the ac clutch on my truck. I rented the puller/installer set from auto zone. and you'll need snap ring pliers too. not very hard to change.

Read up in the factory overhaul manual and the factory chassis service manual.

Re: A/C Compressor Part Question

The seal behind the nut up inside the compressor is bad to leak. If there is any signs of leaking it's more than likely the seal. Pretty much need the handle that has three lugs to hold the clutch while you take the nut loose then a puller to get the old clutch off.
Do a A6 compressor search it will show you all you need.
