Cool, it looks like I get to be the first one to welcome you to the build thread! :welcoem:

Not alot of kids your age appreciate the true coolness of the truck you now own. Whatever you end up deciding to do with it will be awesome. There are alot of good people on here who have alot of good advice to offer, esp on how to save money on getting that thing fixed up! Keep us posted please and update with pics as you get them.

Don

Nice find BTW, sweet GMC short-wide, cousin to my '67 chevrolet short-step! :cong:

PS, I shaved the drip welds on my truck, yuck... took me hours and hours... go slow and take your time.

thanks, i removed the drip rail because they where 1/2 way off already:lol:
"rust", i took about 2" out at a time weld them back up, it took me about 2-3 hours to do the one side. but it's ok for me because with this truck more of a love then work to me, to work on this truck. this truck will but just like the one i rode in when i was a little kid with my dad, but this one will be a short bed.
my dads truck was a 67 chevy pearl white with a red interior with buddy seat's:metal:

Great build so far! I make it up to Valley Park frequently with my job. Keep up the great work, keep us posted, and can't wait to see the end result of this truck.

If you're looking for a great truck show, look no further than the Midwest All Truck Nat's in Riverside, MO coming up this September.

Ok, here are the pics you requested. After you grind the welds back (don't cut too much) you will need to bodywork what's left into something that looks even. Don't be suprized to the amount of body work you will need to do to the top of the cab as the welding heat will warp the cab sheet metal alot more than you might be expecting.

Also you might want to consider taking the front glass out. I know it will make welding and body work in that area alot easier. You don't want to melt the rubber!

I have dozens of hours in just shaving the rails, so don't get discouraged or try to rush it if it seems like it's taking forever. This is a hard project and I have been doing bodywork/painting for almost 20 years! Take your time and you will be fine.

Hope these pics help and drop me a line if you have any other questions!

Don

Well, I hope you meant PEARL white and not PEAL white. You don't want pealing paint, that sucks!

It's worth nothing. I'll come and take it off your hands ;)

Seriously, $250 to $500, I guess. Depends on the amount of rust.

it really doesnt have any rust, but the driver side fender has been repaired. "a dent" i didnt do it. grill needs to be rechrome or painted

Then it shouldn't be unreasonable to ask $400 for it. Are you looking at a Chevy front clip for it?

Wow man, that is awesome, the whole deal with the bikes. That drip rail looks great as well, what tools did you use to take it off? And did you follow a write up/tutorial to do it or just had someone tell you how?

raggedjim 05-31-2008 12:23 AM

Re: 67 gmc shortbed

Just remove the GMC grill and put the 68 chevy grill in it's place. You'll also need the center support but the chevy grill will bolt right up...

No need to change the whole clip... You can even use the same wiring harness, just don't use the inside plugs...

I love the 67-68 GMC's, but I like the 67-68 chevy fronts better.

is that a 68 lemon peeler, a 69 pea picker and a 70-73 apple krate ? i think i remember the differences in the seat and shifters.

i have a 64 super deluxe stingray with a springer front on it, and a solo polo banana seat. i thought the value of those thing has went way down, last time i tried to sell a couple other bike of mine noone would give me much for them
