Got lucky with paint resto, pics from parade
3 Attachment(s)
So after considering repainting my '73 Jimmy for the last few years, I finally took a gamble and decided to wetsand and buff the truck instead. It is an original CA/NV truck, that had a really crappy repaint a long time ago. I had dealt with the very faded and dead paint for a while, but took some 1000 grit sandpaper to it. To my surprise, the repaint came off with some elbow grease, and after buffing the original paint looks great. My high schooler just had his graduation parade yesterday - and he wanted me to chauffeur him in the newly shiny Jimmy. Attached are before and after pics, and one from the parade.

Looks great! Make sure you wax it several times to keep the paint nice!
(I learned this lesson the hard way!) |

Yes - will keep it waxed. And it sits inside - so it should be easy to maintain at this point.
