Smoothy bumper mounting question

I pulled my beastly rear bumper (going smoothy front and back).

1. Are these the correct brackets I need to install the smoothy bumper?

2. What are these bracket covers for?

Does anyone have a pic of that these bracket covers do? I dont understand what they are for.

Tks!

Those look right to me - I have the 1970 C10 with coil springs and my brackets look just like the Brothers ones in your link My understanding is that the leaf spring ones are different.

I always wondered what those holes were for in the top lip of the bumper brackets (when you mount the brackets they are marked "L" and "R" the small (1/4?) holes should be on top, if they are on the bottom, you have the bracket upside down.. :-) see photo from another forum member; sorry I didn't save the OP's name - it is not my photo.

Now I see the holes are for those covers; thanks!

Re: Smoothy bumper mounting question

A few months back I replaced the step bumper with a smooth one on my 1971. That is the bracket I bought to mount plus whatever hardware it needed (think it was stainless bolts to mount to the bracket). I did not buy the covers as I didnt really understand what they were for. Once mounted I see no need to add them, but thats just my opinion.

Re: Smoothy bumper mounting question

I'm assuming the original question is answered now but while this is fresh in folk's minds I wanted to take this opportunity to ask a related question:

What is the hole for in the lower edge of the smoothie bumper? (visible as just gaping open in the above photo of the bumper with the chain link fence in the background).

And also what is that rectangular notch for also in the lower edge of the bumper near that mystery perforation? Anyone know?

http://www.lmctruck.com/icatalog/cb/full.aspx?Page=57 They're rock guards, supposed to keep rocks and debris from ricocheting up off the bumper. If you tow or drive gravel roads they'll keep the rocks off your trailer and windshields...The round holes are there from the factory and are not used. The notch is a bumper jack provision... Brothers is sure proud of their parts! :O
