Good work, it turned out great! That picture of you and your buddy sorting the harness out gives me nightmares... I hate electrical work on trucks.

Got my exhaust finished up last weekend as well as some shocks on the rear end. I didn't particularly like the idea of having a tip out the side but I didn't like the drone of having a turn down under the bed. Im happy with how it looks now that it is done though.
"still has the tailpipe dumped in this photo." Attachment 1698155 Almost cant see the exhaust tip Attachment 1698154 finally ran out the gas tank that I filled before we put the bed on it and now I cant drive it until we put a fuel fill in. Currently have no way to put gas in it unless we take the bed off lol. . plus side is that the truck has over 300 miles on it and is running like a top! Few little adjustments and a rattle scare on the transmission but turned out it is fine! |

Figured I'd update this since I have been able to drive the truck for a while now. I have about 1300 miles on it and its still running really well. We use it every chance we get.
Hauling sticks of Rebar for a room addition we are working on. Attachment 1737904 Hooked up to my brothers 21' toy hauler. didnt tow far but seemed to do well. Attachment 1737905 Installed a new pioneer with blue tooth that I got for my birthday! Attachment 1737906 Only thing I want to do in the immediate future is to spray the bed to match and get a set of lower control arms to lengthen slightly so I can get rid of the little bit of positive camber it has goin on. Hi, that is a cool build. Do you have more details regarding the tires on your truck? Thinking of going in that direction myself.

About 2500 miles on her and still running like a champ. Used it to pick up lumber for my brothers addition. Love a truck that can handle whatever you need. Glad we stuck with the 3/4-1 ton suspension.

Well the truck was about to roll 3000 miles when I started noticing a few weird things. . . I had a very small coolant loss and I thought I traced it back to the steam vent.. but I also noticed that the truck would smoke in the morning but I was being optimistic thinking it was the hot/cold change we have been experiencing.
I rented a tester to check the Head gasket and it tested fine. . also no contamination in the oil. One day when starting it up in the morning it fired cylinder by cylinder, one at a time and ran fine after the initial misfires. . Later that day I turned the key, it kicked back almost like a dead battery. . I tried it one more time since I was stuck at work, it fired and ran fine. . parked it until yesterday when I had a chance to pull the plugs and turn it over with my remote starter. . Sure enough, the very front cylinder on the passenger side was full of coolant. . . hoping to just do head gaskets and praying it isn't a cracked head! Cant be mad at a $400 junk yard motor thats got me this far but still a little bummed ha. Attachment 1806666 worried it might be a crack just based on how much coolant was in the cylinder Attachment 1806667 I drained the coolant and waited overnight for the cylinder to completely dry out, gonna fire it up and rush it into the garage instead of having to work in the wood chips in the sun. Attachment 1806668 She'll be back on the road soon hopefully. Attachment 1806669 |
Re: Complete build change. Lifted 2wd
Sorry to hear of the issue. Hopefully it is just a bad gasket. Make sure you get new head bolts when you put it back together. These are torque to yield and only good for one use in case you didn't know.

If it is a head, I happen to have a pair of 862s I'm not using I'd sell cheap if you end up needing one.
