'88 Suburban stereo relocation help...

Hello all.

I was directed over here from the regular Group. My question is this: I have a double-DIN All in one, DVD, GPS, Etc. Right now, it is in the stock stereo spot, which makes it difficult to see while driving. I am wanting to move it to the front of the dash, where the ashtray is currently. I have read the posts on putting it in a roof console, but I would rather not put it there. Has anyone done such a move? Is it possible?

Any suggestions or advice is appreciated.

Thank you,

James

im sure it could be done, just fab a metal surround/bracket to slide in and reroute the wiring to it.

Thank you for your reply. The wiring is the easy part. It looks like he vent is behind it. Hoping to find someone that has done this modification. But thank you for responding.

Hi do you use your AC?
I removed it (87 and 78)and fit 1.5 din above the heater controls.
wondered if the 2 din would fit,I even considered moving the heater down one hole
