LS1 powered, Air equipped 82 Blazer
For those that don't know--I purchased Ken's (n2trux) unfinished Blazer project.
Things are gonna move a little slower than I initially thought. Just found out that we are gonna have another kid. So we have started looking for a place with a little more room. Oh, and bigger garage, or atleast room for me to build a nice shop. I'll try and post progress as I go. I'm sure I'll need help from time to time. I'm definately glad to belong to such a helpful board. So far I've made a whole lot of measurements, and removed the powertrain, fenders, and suspension so that I could finish weld everything on the frame. Next step is to finish cleaning it up, then paint it. Then I can reassemble the suspension. I need to powdercoat the spindles while they are off. Then I can order brakes and start putting everything back together. I've got those 20" irocs mounted on there for a template to see how much room I've got. I think I am gonna need to go into the back and clear some more room. I will remove the rear fenders soon and take a looksee. Here are some pics of the front for now. http://i259.photobucket.com/albums/h...bo_Joe_D/1.jpg http://i259.photobucket.com/albums/h..._Joe_D/2-1.jpg |

Thanks guys. I will post pics of the back, when I get into it. After I painting the front, so that it doesn't rust anymore, I will get the rear wheel wells out and be able to take some good shots.

A slow going project is better than a no going project at all! Keep us updated. It's going to be a sweet ride!

Got any plans as far as upgrading the motor?

Re: LS1 powered, Air equipped 82 Blazer
I'm building this thing to be a sport tourer not really a blvd bruiser. So I want to keep it very streetable. I have been talking to some LS1 guys though. I don't want to spend that much money on heads, nor do I think it is necessary. They tell me an LS6 intake really isn't great bang for your buck, so I will probably just put a mild cam in it and that's it for now. It came with headers.
After I have it together for awhile--who knows? It may start to feel real slow and the need for speed is strong in me. I'm a big fan of forced induction. But that is way way down the road--if at all. |
Re: LS1 powered, Air equipped 82 Blazer
Things have been going kinda slow. I've been so busy looking for a new house and trying to get mine ready to sale, I really haven't had time to get much done. Plus, for the time being(mortgage lending, credit apps, other expenses associated with all of this) spending is kinda on lockdown.
I have been doing alot of planning though. I have a plan for brakes and wheels now(Here is my "wheel opinions" thread: http://www.67-72chevytrucks.com/vboa...d.php?t=341510 ). I found time while it was raining in the last week to finish a photo shop project. http://i259.photobucket.com/albums/h...Blazercopy.jpg http://i259.photobucket.com/albums/h...k20005copy.jpg I'm not sure if I'm crazy about that particular roof rack after I put it on there. And I may have made the rear wheels a little bigger than 20"s. Other than that, it should look real similar when finished, except it won't look like a photoshop. Or atleast that's what I'm feeling now. Photoshop is a useful tool, but it almost takes some fun out of it though, you know? Tell me what you think. |

Re: LS1 powered, Air equipped 82 Blazer
any progress?

Re: LS1 powered, Air equipped 82 Blazer
no progress what so ever. I am in the process of buying some land and gonna build a house. Realistically, I may not really do much until we are in the new house. But I should finally have a good place to work on it.
Plans for the house include a 4 car garage underneath. It's on slope--I can't wait. |
