Wow, so today I welded a lot of stuff. I lined up the body lines on the back and did a ton of spot welding. Well it felt like a ton to me. I kind of surprised myself with the way the lines on the body look. Generally when something looks way good I am always a little happy with myself. I was honestly a little worried about the body lines. I just started at the top and worked my way down. I do have a little bit of trimming left to do on the inside side of the bed, but I was tired of trimming so I just welded for a while. Thanks for looking.
PS if you have any questions and are looking for tips on how to do certain things just ask. PSS Does this bed look SICK or what! :metal: |

Nice work! looks really good! And it is a huge difference long vs. short. I know when my longbed was in the garage it left me no room to move around behind it. With the shortbed I had plenty of space ;)

Re: 67 C20 LB Conversion to C10 SB Fleet.
Nice work ... I think the next truck I build ill build a shortie..

Re: 67 C20 LB Conversion to C10 SB Fleet.
Well Limited funds and a really busy schedule have been stopping me from doing anything.
Some good news though is that I bought a cutting torch. Need to get the tanks filled but when you are at work 10 hours a day and prax-air and all those places are closed on Saturday i haven't had a chance to fill them. Hope I am not disappointing anyone by a not so good update but I had to get on here once. Thanks all for looking at my thread. |
Re: 67 C20 LB Conversion to C10 SB Fleet.

Update, I guess. So I thought I needed to take some photos and do a little update. I haven't really done much for a while. My wife took over my shop with pieces of a play house swing set. I really also haven't had time because of school and work and all my other things that I have going on. So here are some photos. I hope that you guys like them. I really am having a hard time with the front on the drivers side. The thing is that side has been trouble from day one. I think I going to find a good half bed side in a junk yard and then weld and new section in. Well I guess that's it. I probably wont have that much in the way of updates for a while with school and all. |
Re: 67 C20 LB Conversion to C10 SB Fleet.

yup pics do hide a lot.
As your about to see. Unexpected Progress, So the other day after a job flew south and I lost out on making some extra money I got some stuff done. Don't you find that when your mad at the world you just don't want any contact with it. Yeah so that is what I did. I ignored the world for half a day. I was able to weld in the brace plates for my frame. I wanted to use 3/16" but I ended up only being able to get 1/4". Hey I know its overkill maybe but at least I know its strong enough. I have to get the hang of welding again. The first one I welded in was OK at best. The second looked pretty good. So enjoy the pictures. Leave some comments. Thanks for looking. first one is at the top then the second one. |
Re: 67 C20 LB Conversion to C10 SB Fleet.

Check out my seams!
Got some work done before and I'm finally posting some pics. So just wondering if all of you guys think like I do about my building skills. That I suck at it! Well I guess I am pretty happy (for a change) with the way my seams look so here are a few shots. Let me know what you think. |

Well I guess i am finding a little time.
Well not really that much time, but this morning when I woke up it was nice and cool out so I went out for a few hours and started tearing down what is left of the C20. Which is pretty much a running truck with no bed. I decided since I bought an engine hoist that I wanted to get the motor, even though its not rebuilt yet on the frame with the cab to see what my ride height was really going to be with the 4.5" front and 5" back drop. I need this thing to be level. So if I have to Get some blocks to lower the back then I will know. I also really want to see what it looks like kinda put back together, and I need to get started on the body work on the cab and front clip. It would be nice to paint it next summer. HAAAAH, dreaming. Anyway I love the look of a truck all tore down. Feels like progress. |

So what do you think? my cab looks pretty clean eh? I am thinking I should just roll some steel to match and graft it in, but maybe not. I just know that the replacement rockers are thin and crappy anyone know of some real good ones?
|
Re: 67 C20 LB Conversion to C10 SB Fleet.
Looks really nice! You could patch the rockers, but If I were you I'd open them up so you can put some rust preventative or POR 15 in there at least. Might also find a couple other small areas while you're in there.
Triplus makes really nice rockers. They are actually slightly thicker than NOS rockers as confirmed by a couple of the vendors on here. I can't guarantee they will fit perfectly, but the last cab I repaired we put them on and they almost popped into place when we got them into position. We had to do no adjustment and the doors fit on the cab perfectly. |
