changing motor mounts to 73 and up

does this modification move the motor forward more? I have the new mounts and it seems like it would. also that would mean the trans is further forward too?

thanks

Why are you changing them to 73 up ? What year is your truck?

Sorry it is a 71

I believe that the later model style are more secure

Will you have to change the motor stands --perches-- also to 73 up? The threads below is for a 63 c10 to 350 andan LS swap using 73 up engine clamshell mounts but gives me an idea what is involved.

sre you doing an ls conversion also? since you have to drill new holes id the frame to mount the 73+ towers, you can pretty much mount them where you like. if you re doing the LS coversion the most popular is to use the dirty dingo slider mounts from what ive read.
im doing this very same thing now

i want to eventually do an LS swap but for now just a 350. When I bought the truck it did not have a motor. so I picked up one and it had the other motor mounts.

Sounds to me that you need the 73-87 towers also to use the 73-87 clamshells for a sbc.

I got these from performance online with the trans mount for around 200 way cheaper I think and should be more than strong enough and theyre made to bolt in to our trucks

Re: changing motor mounts to 73 and up

Im doing this swap myself, but I am changing to an ls engine, and converting to a short wheelbase at the same time so I have a little more freedom to modify. One thing to note is that there are two different sizes of this bracket, make sure you have the right one, sounds like you do though. This post was in the Faq section, it may help you out. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=128765

I have a 68C10 with the 73 & up Perches but my motor/trans setup is a 305/700R4. My fan blade sticks over the top of the shroud about an inch from my newly bought SBC fan shroud. I think the 73 perches moved my engine up to the hood not to the radiator like you are asking here.

Just something to think about might not be the same for you, but it might
