Looking for opinions on these custom eBay door panels.

I contacted the seller and they can make them without the bow tie which is what I would want. Anyone using these? Any thoughts before I buy? Thanks guys.

They come with the holes in the backing panel but not punched through the vinyl covering. I believe 67 style or the later style could be used on them.

I think they'd look nice on a customized truck, not so much if you were going "survivor" style. Time will tell regarding durabilty. If you get some, let us know about fit/finish.

Yeah my interior has gone the "slightly modified, yet classy" route. All black and chrome so I thought they might look nice. I have to weigh it out. The seller will do $75 plus shipping on them so I guess it's not much to possibly lose.

I just got through building my own and that is a good deal. Ask them what backer they are using, just to make sure it will hold up.

I just sent the seller a message. I'll post when I get a reply to see what you have to say. Thank you.

They are made with "water proof door board " It's not water proof it's water resistant . If you get a set just cover the back with plastic when you install them .Also you'll need to use the '72 escutcheons between the panels and door handle /window crank to prevent wear . I've used these door boards for many years to recreate 100's of different door panels before they went to plastic molded panels .One more thing is you want to use countersunk flanged chrome trim washers when you install the lower 4 1/4x20 countersunk screws into the door so the screws don't pull thru the pressed cardboard panels.:chevy:

Yup as you said. They said it's made of 1/8" waterproof door board. Can you elaborate on covering the backs with plastic?

Re: Looking for opinions on these custom eBay door panels.

Just duct tape some plastic across the back of the panel ,Heavier than a trash bag should be fine .it's just a little prevention and will help with air intrusion don't cut holes for the handles just push the handle studs thru the plastic , I have the chrome countersunk washers if you need them I can throw some in an envelope . The only thing about the design on those panels is potential wear from the window crank hitting the raised material when lowering the window . maybe you could draw your own design and have him make them for you ? Any auto upholstery shop could but not for $75.00 :chevy:

Door board $18.00
Vinyl $ 5.00
glue $ 2.00
foam $ 5.00
labor $45.00 Total $75.00 = cheap price , He lives in Mn it's a good shop time filler ebay project

Total shop expenses when supplies purchased wholesale

Re: Looking for opinions on these custom eBay door panels.

What GOM is talking about between the panel and door is known as a vapor barrier. It does just as the name implies. all car/trucks now a days are made with them to keep moisture off of the inside of the door panels. Our trucks didn't have these as they weren't needed on metal panels. And even if they did come on the truck most likely they wouldn't have made it this long to see them still left on a door. About 75% of the doors that have been into before have these thing tore all up or gone completely. Jim

Yup I know about the vapor barriers. I've done 3 window regulators on my '02 Tahoe and it's always painstaking to get them back on half decent.

I saw them also, but didn't care for the bow tie. Did he give you s Buy-it-Now price for a set w/o the emblem?

$75 plus actual shipping which is like $18 for me.

I think they would look pretty good without the bowtie as well.

I think they look good, Time and materials would be twice the price to DIY. Is door board what we use to call Masonite. I would coat the back with paint, or undercoating. and the use vapor barrier on the door.

Well I pulled the trigger and ordered a plain black pair. I also told the seller that there was a lot of interest on this site and he should think about selling them on here. I'll post updates once they're here.

Were you able to just order a set? I don't see a buy now so I put a bid in on the black ones with the blue emblem

I am not really an ebay person.

I sent them a message on eBay. He gave me a price of $75 plus shipping. He put the listing on and then let me buy it.
