77-80 Camel Tan 81-87 Black & Silver 81-78 Maroon & Burgandy But any 73-87 seat will fit, they all bolt up to the floor of the cab, or any 73-87 truck. I take $50 off the price of the seat, for the core seat. I can build pretty much anything, but that GMC seat. I do not have one at this time. |

It's those little touches that make for a quality re-build. |

It's part of the rebuild kit, which helps build and firm up the foam. It gives the bottom of the seat a cleaner look. As you said, it also protects the bottom of the seat foam from the springs. In most cases, Jute can not be used when a new foam bottom is installed on the seat. The new cover is impossible to get on. (see pic) Some upholstery shops use batting, but it doesn't hold up and it's messy. I only use batting on the small holes that need filled in. But most of the time, it's best just to replace a bad section with new piece of foam.(see pic) It's ideal to use a NEW seat bottom foam, but it's too pricey for some. But I have customers insist on having a NEW foam. If the original foam is too damaged, it gets tossed. When I tear down seats that have been "rebuilt" at one time, I have found that people use all sorts of stuff. Towels, carpet, hard foam, newspapers, cardboard and luan paneling just to name a few. |
Re: Bench Seats, Having them Reupholstered
I’ve been quietly tagging along and really appreciate the skill you put into redoing the seats and the knowledge you share here. I have one on the “to do” list and will be getting in contact for one of yours when it is time. Thanks for sharing!

Does that tan seat above have the holes for the seat belts to go through.

The 81-87 bench seats have the belt cutout holes. |
Re: Bench Seats, Having them Reupholstered
Ok thanks that's exactly what I was wondering. Someone local has one listed as 81-87 but it has no cutouts. What is the difference in the track to tell the 81-87 tracks from the rest?

73-76. 77-80. 81-87. The seat release knob is off to the side on the 73-76 & 77-80 tracks. It is the front for the 81-87 tracks. They all will bolt up to the cab floor, any 73-87. They have to match the seat frame though. Another words the 73-76 tracks will not bolt up to a 81-87 seat frame. It could be, that the seat was redone at one time, and they didn't cut the holes into the cover. That can be done. I have a new cover now, the holes have to be cut in, if you want them. |

Black seems to be the most popular. Just adding more pics of seats that have been built.

Re: Bench Seats, Having them Reupholstered
I've gotta say it again.... I really like the Jute used between the foam and the springs.
It's the little touches like this that are the difference between an OK job and quality workmanship. |
