Correct Rims for a 1972 Blazer
Looking for a set of OEM rims for a 1972 Blazer. Found a set of six lug rims on Craigslist for a 1968 4x4. Can anyone tell me if they are correct for my 1972 Blazer.
Thanx |

If the Craigs List [CL] rims are for a '68 Chevy [or GMC] with 6-lug, 5.5'' spacing, then yes.
If they're for a different make, then probably not. I have a '68 Chevy C/10 and a '71 GMC Jimmy [like a K/5]. They have the same rim spacing. In Model Year [MY] 1970 or '71, C/10 trucks [2 wheel drives] went to a 5 lug rim, but the 4x4's [K/10s] stayed with the 6 lug pattern. Prior to the change they were the same. |

I don't believe 68 6 lug rims will clear calipers on a 72. Original 68 wheels would be drum brake wheels. Some folks take a grinder to the caliper, but that's a personal choice.

Re: Correct Rims for a 1972 Blazer
To be honest, I never tried my '68 rims on my Jimmy. The Stepside's OEM 6-lug rims were 5.25 x 17.5, and originally came with bias ply 7.00x17.5 tires. Then they got scarce and I went with 8.00x17.5. Then I went to radials, R8x17.5LTs. Then the tire shop said my OEM 17.5 rims were shot [and no longer available,] so I went to 235/85/16LTs on 16 '' rims.
The Jimmy came with 33x12.50x15LTs on 15x10 rims, when I got it. I used to run a '67 K/10 Suburban with 33x12.50x15 tires on 15x8 rims. When I tried to swap over the Jimmy's fresher tires and rims onto the Sub [when the Jimmy needed a new engine] the rims fit, but I could not turn the wheels much as the 10'' rims interfered where the 8'' ran OK. The '67 had drums up front, the '71 had disc. I don't recall the type of brakes being an issue, just the rim width. But that was about 20 years ago. Maybe some others have a wider perspective. |

As previously mentioned the 1968 rims will not clear the calipers. I have a set of 1971 stock rims with new tires that I would sell. I had them on my 71 Feathers Blazer for less than 100 miles. Also have a pretty good set of original hubcaps to go with them. Let ne know if you are interested.
