Meguiars #7 and a CLEAN terry cloth... :metal:

Re: Gauge Lense Cleaning
If they're really bad-hazy or streaked, the Novus 3-step plastic polish works excellent. You can just use the last step polish to make 'em look new if they already look good..

Re: Gauge Lense Cleaning
3M Finnesse-It rubbing compound and a soft cloth to rub it out with. Once clean keep it pollished with a good soft cloth and detail spray.

Re: Gauge Lense Cleaning
What about removing scratches? Anyone have any good products to help with this?

Re: Gauge Lense Cleaning
Nate, the 3-step Novus polish I was talking about will take out scratches that'll catch your fingernail- the idea is to work from the level 3 (coarsest) down to 1, but the 3 is for the more severe scratches. You'd use the level 3 only directly on the scratches, then the 2 compound on anything hazy, then the 1- a final polish. It's the best stuff I've seen for plastics/acrylic, clear or not.

Re: Gauge Lense Cleaning
DGulliver, thanks for the info. I have a couple spare lenses I can perfect the art of removing scratches on before I work on my original lense. Thanks again!
Where did you purchase the kit from? Local parts store, Ace, etc.? Anyone else have any products they've used? |
Re: Gauge Lense Cleaning
Hey Nate, I think i got mine directly from them here: http://www.bestplasticcleaner.com/
It's also on eBay, Amazon, etc.. best of luck- I think you'll like it! |
Re: Gauge Lense Cleaning
i'll second DGulliver's advice. Novus 3 step works great. i've use it for years on all scratched/hazy plastics.
