I had forgotten that! Yeah, it's a beauty. Wish I had spent more time at his shop. I went in it just a couple of times when I was a paint rep. I would drive by and see the truck parked out there all the time.

Since I am no good at photoshop I have to do the print and scissors and tape thing.

That included Saving the photos of trucks, emailing them to my work email printing them off on the work printer and then cutting and taping and scanning to get the final vision

I have one out in my garage that I did the same thing with planning on sectioning my truck. Not Cole Fosters understand but a photo from a magazine.

Those two trucks were/are part of the do I or don't I want to lean the windshield posts back again as they are on my truck now? question. I decided no as trying to get everything to fit was one of my project stopping issues. That and the fact that I wore the truck out twice since I chopped it in 1981.

You can see that 5 inch chop in the back window. I'm with Brian in that I sure like the way you have that exhaust running out from under the flipped over 54 Bumper.

Brian and Mr. 48 - I've been away on vacation and missed your notes. Thanks for the kind words on the exhaust. I had been thinking about that mod for a long time, figuring it was going to be tough to get just right. I wanted the bumper sitting higher than stock and tucked in. In the end, I simply flipped the bumper arms upside down along with the bumper. Worked like a charm!

That's wild, I didn't catch that the bumper had been raised. Which is a good thing, I didn't notice it because it "flows" and looks perfect. The way the bumper drops so much off the frame I am blown away that it doesn't look too high. Very nice indeed!

Happy to oblige as I don't have the bed wood in yet. Exhaust was done by an absolute wizard in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada. Shout out to Maxim Muffler.
Hand bent one-piece tubing with two mufflers plus two resonators. The man is an artist. Sounds great too. The rest of the work was done in my garage and driveway with much help from my dear old dad. Appreciate the interest....

Thanks dsraven. I'm thinking about doing a tilting bed floor with hinges but haven't quite figured out how to do it. If anyone has advice, I'd be glad to hear it.

LS fab sells a set of hinges designed for tilting bed floors, Not inexpensive but they would probably save a lot of hours of trying to make something work.. https://ls-fab.com/73-87-chevy-compo...cissor-hinges/

That 53 and your work on it just flat keeps raising the bar a few notches at a time. Pretty big notches too.

Here's my cut up photo copy. Sectioning that hood is way easier on that piece of paper, I'll tell you that! LOL I am not kidding it just blows me away how similar you and I are with our trucks!

Man, that red truck is smooth. The slightly off level wheel skirts would be my only criticism. I like painted trucks instead of patina or fake patina though so it already had that going for it. Nothing wrong with patina, I just like a nice paint job better. To each their own.

I not only like the shiny paint and the color of the Red truck I posted but several very subtle tricks they used on it that are just right but blend in so well that you might miss them at first glance.

I agree that the style line on the skirt should match the plane of the running board plus carry on in a straight line from the style line on the fenders.

I found this illustration that Rik Hoving did of Cole Porter's old truck with skirts that he drew up and then the truck as it sat when Cole owned it.

Some searching shows that the skirts on the red truck in my post above are probably aftermarket skirts sold to the lowrider brigade.

This truck perfectly shows one thing that I harp on a lot, To be right all the straight lines on the truck have to be on the exact same plane as they are on this truck. Not one line is off kilter from the others on it. No drooping the bed at the back to make the back look lower, no different angle between the door bottom and the running boards and so on.
