8 lug wheels - what's on YOUR truck?
 

i'm having a hard time finding some vintage style 8 lugs for my C-20 and was wondering what you guys were using. I currently have some vintage US Mags slots, but they're 16.5s and need new tires. Any suggestions? Maybe swap to 5 lug? Please post some pics of your 3/4 ton ride. Thanks!!!!!

I went to the junkyard and bought some wheels in the exact same style Just 16" in stead of 16.5" and my caps fit perfect. Just standard steel wheels.

Just picked up a set of HD 2500 late model wheels. I need to get some caps and lug nuts.

yeah, i'm considering those 2500s also, but wondering how they'll look on the truck. i saw one pic of them on a 71, the sat kinda too far in. are you using spacers?

I have those on mine and don't like the look of them too much. They do sit pretty far in. I think somebody here called it the "fat guy on a small bike" look.

I don't have any good pictures right now.

I have some 16.5 slots, but I guess finding tires is going to be a pain. Oh well, those are my favorite wheels and it was a looooong time before I found mine.

We had a hard time finding something that wasn't straight bling, but looked nice and a little retro. This is what we came up with. Dick Cepeks.

Rupdog, you shouldn't have too much of a problem finding 16.5 tires.

Sinister, really like the red rims on your truck. I just don't think that I could pull that off with my Ochre and white truck.

If you`re looking for "vintage style" aftermarket/custom 8-lug wheels they`ll be 16.5s.You have a choice of aluminum slots,turbine/finned aluminum,oem center/wide,and wagon wheels in chrome,aluminum,or white.You can get all but the turbines these days in 16".

Here is my truck. It had these rims when I got the truck, and they are from a Dodge truck. To me, they kind of look like an 8 lug version of Corvette rallys.

I like the more period correct wheels on these trucks. A few of the late model wheels look ok on these trucks but not many.


If you want a set of late model wheels off a 2500hd I have a set just like what Ace in the Hole has on his truck. Center caps and all. Came off my 04


Has anyone put a set of Mickey Thompson Classic's on one of these... they might not look to outta place.

mr bowtie....this is what you are looking for...I'm still waiting for tires for them. They are 1.5" wider than the widest stock wheel but only a "purist" would know the difference. Powder coated in Argent Silver.

Yea I think that would be a nice lookin wheel on a heavy chevy. I agree Id like to see em mounted up! I bet they look tough!!! :chevy:

These are obviously not stock, but have been on this truck as long as I can remember. Grandpa was a simple man and I intend to keep it that way ;-)

beware, the wheel itself looks sweet but the center cap is bulky and plastic, also cracks easily with the slightest over turn on the screws holding it on. (we sell them where I work)

Put these beauties on today, got them for free with tires and caps from work. I put them on and got rid of the 16.5's that were all over it. I am still debating a 5 or 6 lug swap though for a wider range of drop parts and wheels.

Rupdog, if you go to the Long Beach swap meet, at the Veteran's Stadium. You should be able to find rims like those. I just checked the calendar and it was held today, March 1st. Next meet is March 22nd. I have heard it is not, as good as, it was a few years ago. Then again, you could find them at the Pomona swap meet, but that place is a zoo.

yeah, i had to work the day of LBSM. I'm going to Pomona (haha, the zoo) this weekend, and gonna try my luck there. what are those wheels called? are those the kelsey-hayes i keep reading about? what years did those come stock on?

i just got these same wheels. i like the stance on your truck. did you drop the front, or is it stock?

what size tires are you running? what brand, and are you happy with 'em as far as traction, road noise, etc?

Sorry...NFS. I will keep you in mind however if I find another set. The ones like I have and the ones that c10addict have are the same. I had a second set, that I sold, that have the step in the outer rim. They are shown below and seem to be more common.
