Re: Prostreet / Dragrace 1972 blazer

Well ithink are 2 builds are alittle diffrent as mine will be quite tame for its power level and should idle smooth at 900 or so. I made mine able to drive and is built for future spraying which could be fun. I ordered 10 pistons from JE when I built this and it has there blown/nitrous tool steele piston pins.
I really think it can get into the 9's without juice!! So did the converter tech at ATI. Good luck with the project. Got any pics ?

Here is my progress over the last 2 weeks. Then I loaded it up and dropped it off 2 have my 10 point rollcage welded in. The doors are jammed ppg black and this will be the whole trucks color. It should be painted in about another 2 weeks.

Thanks for looking and ill try and update the paint pics as they come.

does the top fit on with the cage? looks a little high in the pictures.

Otherwise looks pretty badass

AKoldstyle 05-21-2009 12:20 AM

Re: Prostreet / Dragrace 1972 blazer

Yes the top fits over the cage, there is quite a taper up from the windshield frame to the top.The cage was built by art morrison and designed for a pickup. I really should have done the cage install myself. The cage should have been mounted forward more and trimmed down the extra 5 inches that the rear floor comes up,then the rear bars would have had a lesser angle and gone further back. It still is a good fit and my seats leave me with lots of room. Thanks for checking it out.

So here are a few pics of the body now.The dash, cage, and firewall along with the door jams have all been prayed. I need to hand and align the doors and front clip, then wetsand and the color can be layed out on the rest of the body. On the bright side the engine and trans are back in for good now! I am very happy with the smoothed dash and firewall. It is worth all the metal work we preformed. I will try keep the pictures current. I am planning to go 4 a ride in it in september. Keeping my fingers crossed. Thanks for checking out the progress.

Ok well i got both doors hung and one fender off the core support. I need 2 go by shims today for the fenders and then I will line them up and check out the hood fitment. this engine has been dropped and shoved back and still sits way up. I now understand fully the term shoehorned

Yeah those are the biggest drag radial MT makes and I have seen people running low 8 sec passes on them.I can clear about 6 more inches if I need slick

Re: Prostreet / Dragrace 1972 blazer

how tall is that cowl hood and where did you get it?

AKoldstyle 06-29-2009 03:12 PM

Re: Prostreet / Dragrace 1972 blazer

Ok the rearend is a narrowed 9inch from art morrison, the rims are 15x10 and those tires are 315/60/15. I can fit up to 20 inch wide tire, and a max of 33 tall. the tires measure 13.5 wide and 29.5 tall, so there is alot of rubber under there. As for the cowl hood its a bolt on 4.5 from unlimited products fiberglass

Here is an old pic from the bed tubbing and yesterday looking at the rear end pic for you. I like how my tires are tucked in and will only go witha bigger tire for traction at the track.
