Waxed the cab tonight, I'll buff it soon. Tomorrow the frame gets bolted to the cab once again :metal:

This is such a cool build.

The fact you have your dad involved is even better.

The waxed cab will look great too.

And having your dog along for the ride...... Priceless.

Re: 1966 C10 Project Truck

Thanks guys!

Saturday was an off-road day again but Sunday was all about the 66, and a little bit of dad's new toy, a 69 K20 ex Fire Truck. It's rad!

My cab and dad's truck
https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1574/...98f75efc_b.jpg

We tinkered with his truck for a bit and then got busy on mine. First order of business was to put the frame back under the cab. It went super smooth, just like it had come out.
https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1552/...087ab03f_b.jpg

I painted the underside of the frame and the new disc brake parts while dad cleaned and painted the rear axle.
https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1522/...2b0908c4_b.jpg

Mom even stopped by to see what we were up to, she can't wait to see my truck finished!
https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1543/...8f55e9b8_b.jpg

Dad got the trailing arms put back in while I got the spindles on and passenger side rotor installed
https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1462/...f317c983_b.jpg

https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1588/...ab8be842_b.jpg

Dad went to install the other rotor and caliper and just for fun, I had him verify that the other rotor was 6 lug. Turns out, they had sent me 1 6 lug rotor and 1 5 lug rotor. No big deal, I'll get it sorted out this morning.
https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1611/...6ce00b26_b.jpg

Passenger side all buttoned up. I love it!
https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1467/...bb5822bd_b.jpg

How the driver's side will look for a bit
[url=https://flic.kr/p/FEvtcv]https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1718/...af87e641_b.jpg

After we figured out we couldn't do anymore on the front, we moved to the rear and got the axle all bolted in. I'm still waiting on new coil keepers but everything else is on and looks awesome!
https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1562/...fe67df4b_b.jpg

We knocked a whole bunch of big items out yesterday and I can't be any happier of the progress we are making! I'm going to get the motor and tranny mated up this week and maybe even drop em in this weekend :metal:

He's free labor so it works out :haha: We are having a blast with this old truck for sure!

I got a rear sway bar from a guy at work yesterday so last night I cleaned it up and painted it to match the rest of the frame. It's out of a Trans Am and looks like it's pretty straightforward to bolt in!

https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1570/...de2ff978_b.jpg

Even sanded the front sway bar down and got it nice and pretty too!
https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1658/...2b89760f_b.jpg

Tonight I'll be building a cradle to hold the motor on the floor so I can get the flywheel, clutch and tranny all bolted up to it. Should see it in the frame on Saturday :metal:

Thanks guys! Getting it to start looking like a truck again boosts my confidence in my aggressive timeline but there's still 100 little things to do. I'm super happy that I get to plug away at it a little each night after work, makes the full work days go nice and smooth :chevy:

Great progress and love the look of the waxed cab.

I'm running Rally wheels with some 235/75-15 Goodyear all terrain tires. The price was right and the tires have a bunch of tread on em so they will work for a while.

Got the flywheel, clutch and bellhousing on last night and measured to see if I needed to cut the bearing retainer down and it looks like I do. I'll get it done at work today or tomorrow :metal:

A little accessory bolt on action, the black looks awesome on the orange :)

Looking good! I'm glad your keeping the six. I also run 235/75/15s on my truck. I found a set for $60 a tire new and I couldn't beat it.

Thanks! The 6 is just a "for now" motor until I can afford my LS and 6 speed :metal:. It'll be a great truck as it is with the T-5 though.

Shortened the bearing retainer on lunch today. I ended up shortening it 7/16", I'm still outside of the travel distance of the throwout bearing and should be far enough away from the clutch disc too.

Re: 1966 C10 Project Truck

Flickr isn't letting me upload this morning, dangit!

Got quite a bit done over the weekend. Saturday, I dropped the motor and trans in and while dad was cutting the shifter hole, I started getting the accessories bolted on the motor :metal:. I also fit my clutch and brake master cylinders, I need to move the clutch reservoir up a bit more but other than that, they all play nice with each other :)

Yesterday, I went on a morning parts run and started modifying my S10 shifter to accept a bolt on shift lever. Seemed to go smoothly except I picked the wrong spot so neutral is at the dash and 1st is waaaaay under the dash.

Tonight I will get that fixed and build my tranny crossmember. It's coming together! :chevy:

Doesn't look like I can attach pictures here right now either, must be a work computer thing. I'll tinker with that tonight on my super slow laptop.

Not yet! I was getting pretty discouraged that my Unisteer setup wouldn't make it in time but I'll have it on Friday :metal:

It's pretty sweet for sure! It's back in our prototype area at work so we can play with it whenever we want :)

Here are a couple pictures from the weekend that I wasn't able to post before.

I was excited to see the FedEx truck pull in, I knew it had my replacement rotor on it and I was right!

Modifying the S10 shifter for a bolt on lever
https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7293/...daf917fc_b.jpg

The stick is in 2nd gear right now so I'll be mounting the stick to the more upright position on the shifter itself. That should put it right where I want it.
https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7071/...a26a67d5_b.jpg

Last night, I busted the cross member out for the T5. I'm super happy with how it turned out and how it works. One more step to driving it again :metal:

Got the shifter fixed and the distributor stabbed in last night. The shifter is in a way better spot now, it was under the dash before.

I basically turned it into a Camaro shifter but the price was way better
https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7659/...e654e0d9_b.jpg

I had to take it all apart to be able to cut it low enough. I sanded the front tab off and tacked the plates when I reassembled it. Picture is pretty bad, sorry bout that

I should get my new brake and fuel lines tomorrow so I'll get those installed then. Tonight I'm going to get the engine wire harness sorted out and mount the carburetor :chevy:

Good job on the shifter, I just had to do that with mine as well.

Re: 1966 C10 Project Truck

More motor pictures. Got it all wired up last night and got the carburetor installed. I was supposed to be doing brake and fuel lines but those items got shipped separately from the rest so they didn't show up with the miscellaneous parts yesterday. I also measured for the rear driveline last night too. I love progress! :metal:

I found out that I got the wrong water pump and it interferes with the power steering pump bracket but that's an easy fix. I kinda wanted a black water pump anyway

https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7631/...c0738dd6_b.jpg

I've got a full weekend this weekend but I'm hoping to get some time on the old girl and get it ready to roll out of the garage so I can start getting the front clip cleaned up and back on.

Yes, nice shifter. A custom shifter handle is also on my to-do list. In the meantime I just bent my S10 shifter to suit. I also did a short-throw mod, which makes the stock shifter way nicer to use. See here: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...9&postcount=94

That does look pretty easy, I think I might do that once I can find a nice block of aluminum.
