Grease gun?
 

Anyone have a recommendation for a grease gun? I prefer the pistol-grip style. I've thrown away the last two I bought because the top threads leaked so badly.

All my guns are Lincolns..I have both hand OP and air OP...hand op ive had over 25yrs..air OP I've had a couple yrs..no issues with either...my. buddy with construction business uses all dewalt cordless guns..he loves em

Thanks. I love DeWalt tools, but I have a hard time paying $160 for a grease gun. I'm tempted, though...

I know that's why I dont have the dewalt...but when hes going thru 3-4 tubes of grease per machine it's worth it to him

I can definitely understand that. If I used it that much, I could definitely justify the DeWalt. I just need it for maintaining my own vehicles and equipment.

I have this Lumax LX-1152 and like it just fine. After having oil seep from it and making a mess storing between maintenance times on my truck, I have decided to remove the grease cartridge from it whenever it is not in use. That way the grease is not under pressure. I bought a plastic bin with lid at Walmart and just keep the cartridges and the grease gun in that.

I have a dewalt cordless. Absolutely love it. I got tired of pumping a pistol grip after 40 years. Holds a charge for many tubes. ( Did I say many???) Havnt had a problem since I purchased it 2 years ago and I grease several semi trucks and yrailers.

I wish I could justify buying a DeWalt. I have all kinds of DeWalt tools, but I can't justify the expense of a grease gun because I just don't use it that often. I ended up buying a Milton. It looks pretty well made. It was made in India, not China. I haven't put it to use yet, but I should get to that next week.

I bought a cheap battery powered grease gun from Northern Tool and added a Lock n Lube end to the hose. The switch in the trigger isn't the best but otherwise it works very well.

There are lots of grease fittings on my farm equipment and I am much better at doing the maintenance now.

I've looked at the cordless ones many times for two reasons. 1) There area a bunch of grease fittings on a tractor with a front loader. 2) There are many times I need a third hand to hold the gun, hold the end, and then try to pump a hand pump unit. Being able to just push a button would be great.

Follow-up on the Milton: I used it for the first time yesterday. I'm impressed. The tube is made of heavy gauge steel, which allows it to have deeper threads than I've typically seen on grease guns. The head is aluminum and has a rubber seal, so it looks like it's not going to leak. The piston and lock mechanism are really well built. The air release valve is similar to a Schrader valve; you push in the little ball and it releases the air. And the handle has two positions, one for pressure and one for volume. I it seems like it's going to last a long time. I would definitely recommend it.

Two-year follow up: This is a grease gun I don't use all the time, but it's worked well for me every time I've used it. If you're greasing equipment all day, I'd recommend a cordless. Otherwise this Milton works great.
