edelbrock spacer

got a 72 sbc, in a 70 gmc. mostly stock maybe rv cam, it has an edlebrock performer intake dual plane and edlebrock 1405 carb. but it has a carb spacer about an inch tall. I got the intake off right now, my question is do I need to put this spacer back in. or can I just bolt the 1405 to the performer with a fiber gasket. this is not a hot rod just trying to make a good dependable daily driver thanks

If you dont run it you will experience carb. gas boil. Most Edelbrocks need this.

Also an edelbrock air cleaner wont fit directly on an edelbrock carb without a banjo fuel fitting. the out of the box fitting on the carb will interfere with the air cleaner. Atleast all the old ones I had did. The spacer is a good thing for the reason mentioned above.
