LS2 Custom Engine Cladding

1 Attachment(s)
This may have been done before, but it's the first time I have ever tried it.

A friend of mine asked me to "customize" the GTO covers for his LS2 engine. He is installing the engine into his '67 C10 fleet, and was looking for something different.

He furnished two damaged GTO claddings for dissection and two new GTO claddings to modify. After many hours with the Dremel, Super Glue Plastic Fusion Epoxy, spot putty, sandpaper and semi-flat black here is the final result.

The toughest areas to reshape was inside the "G" because of the slight curves.

I would never do another set. Just too much time and patience which I don't have.

Looks good. You should have someone pull a fiberglass mold off of them...:D.

those look so good!

if the truck intake manifold didn't flow so well I would have already switched over to that style intake so I could run the coil covers vs the top vortec cover that I have.

Pop, those look great. Here is the set I did up for my brothers 69 Beaumont (Canadian sister to a Chevelle)

Did mine a little different than you did. Had a set of custom emblem rapid prototyped and affixed them with "emblem pins"

I had to come in this thread just to see what "engine cladding" was.

LonghornSS, those look awesome! I love the color coordination with the rest of the truck. That is one cool LS2 engine. Nice work!

Rod Run - It's just a fancy name for the covers that make the new LS engines look like something out of Star Wars.

Man, those are some sexy covers! Did you cut the "GTO" out of the damaged ones to practice on or what was the reasoning for 2 sets?

Pop, I appreciate that. It was a tone of work I am sure you can appreciate, we also did a lot of cutting plastic welding and re fitting to get these to fit the engine just right. It may not look like it but there were several mods to make these clear the new accessory brackets, fuel system and the FAST intake.

Although she is not a Truck we take a lot of pride in showing her off. So here is an exterior shot.

You can also check out more here if you guys feel so inclined. There are Also a couple of Truck photos on there of my Dad 65 C10 in a separate album.
