1990 suburban drop

I’ve got a 1990 suburban with drop shackles now. I wasn’t able to use the holes for a 2” drop because the shackles would hit the fuel filler hose. So I cut off the last 2 and used the closer holes. My idea now though is to do an axle flip kit and put the stock shackles back in. I’m looking for a total 3/5” drop but I’ll use spindles in the front. Would the axle flip be the easiest way to get it low in the back? And I’ve been told by a lot of people I can do it without a c-notch kit so I’m glad for that. I’m just looking for the easiest way to get it low. Thanks.

Re: 1990 suburban drop

Easiest would be to buy drop leafs to get the additional drop you want. I can't imagine running 5" rear without a notch, but I've never run suburbans maybe the frame is different.
You cannot get 3" drops spindles, 2" is all.
EDIT: crap just realized this is a 73-87 style truck that kept going till 91 in burb's. Yes, you can run 5" rear without a notch [my 78 does] and yes 3" spindles are the way to go.

I didn't do my '93, it was lowered when I bought it but it will sometimes bottom out even with the notch on a a big bump at speed. It was a full Bell Tech kit and almost certain it is a 5" drop in the rear. Flip kit, shackles and a notch. With a 5" drop, without a notch your not going to have near enough travel to drive it comfortably.
