My '66 Suburban
 

Picked up this beauty on sunday. This will be my first car to fix up and I love it. Needs some work but pretty excited about its potential. Has a "running" 350 in it with an auto 350 trans. Odometer says 83,000 but it probably has more. Let me know what y'all think and any suggestions on what to do with it. I own an Antique business so I plan on just getting it running good, painting my logo on the doors, lowering it a tad and put smoothies on it. It'll be a daily driver for me eventually.

I have to get it running good again first. But how would y'all recommend lowering it a little without notching the frame or doing any serious modifying. Any suggestions are appreciated!

Mine had 14" rims and low-profile tires when I got it. That lowers it a bit. I'm going back to stock height, but that's just me.

MIne has 1 1/2 inch lower blocks in the rear. j

Mine has coil springs in the back. Do they make a drop kit for it or do any other shorter springs that y'all know of fit and lower it?

The lowering blocks are for coil spring suspension. I will get you a picture of it. j

CPP makes a Heavy Duty 4" dropped spring that is for 'burbs and panels. I haven't got mine on the road but I bought a set. The coil diameter is a little thicker than the stock ones and much thicker than most rear dropped springs.

Got the engine started today! Now need to replace all fluids, replace a couple break lines, and put new power steering rag joint on. After that's it's road worthy!

Right on!!!!! Great Burb, Love it Congratulations. I just picked up my 66 about a month ago, well actually bought for my son for his 15 B Day, doing a little work on it together so it will be ready for him to drive when he's 16
Ours has a 3" drop coil in front and 2" drop coil in the rear but I think I'm going to change it to stock coils all the way around and a 2.5 drop spindle in front and 1" drop block in the rear, this should make the ride a bit softer as drop coils are pretty stiff

Got the engine running yesterday but was over heating. Replaced all fluids . Also Replaced radiator cap and thermostat. Now it is running nice and cool! Seems to run good for sitting so long. Running a bit rich but still good. Put new brake hoses on front and bleed brakes. Putting new steering coupler on tommorow and ready for a test drive.

CPP has a 2/4 drop kit with springo and shocks. I just put it on my 66. Detroit steel wheels has some awesome steel smoothies. I just ordered a set for mine. They are 20 by 8s

Just scored all the body panels to replace the primered ones currently on the suburban! Somehow found exact same color for everything I needed!
