Here's a local truck I'm working on, curious how it's a non promo truck but reads Cheyenne equip. I'm fairly new to the blazer world so I'm just comparing to pickups

Nothing wrong with that SPID though and an interesting combo. As you noted it is a trim upgrade Highlander and not a bundled promo package Highlander. Unlike the Fleetside pickups, Blazer Highlanders were an upgrade of the Z84 CST trim package. As such they also were the only bucket seat Highlanders. Of note Blazers required both the Z84 CST trim and the optional hardtop coded Z59 or Z58 but not apparently a rear seat. |

Just sold this survivor for a friend of mine. It is going to Green Bay WI. New owner is going to reupholster, fix the rust and paint. Just refresh not a full restore, it doesn't need much.

They're still out there! Garaged and used sparingly as a hunting rig since 2001. I found this one just outside Denver, CO.

Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Blazer/Jimmy?
Great find - two things good to note:
1) speaker location (would use brackets w nutserts I believe, differs from AC brackets) 2) white rear wheel tubs - I've seen several now and like this one seem to be St. Louis builds. Did GM paint the wheel tubs white on some highlanders?????? My blue one is similar. Is the jack decal on top of the paint? |

Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Blazer/Jimmy?
Nice highlander sococ10. Plan on there being more than just rockers needing repair once they cut them off. I needed floors and floor brace and inner rockers with some rocker tortion box repair. I really need to replace the tortion boxes now as the repair has failed now too. Rust gets everywhere and eats inside out. Good luck on repair and hopefully everything else is solid. When I got mine repaired the first time at a shop it was 300 per side. This last time I did it myself and cost me 40 per side and a wire spool for my welder. It's not super difficult but my truck isn't in as good if shape as yours either. So it didn't need to be perfect. I just wanted it solid again.

It's worth noting that in addition to the white wheel tubs the front face of the step on the floor pan is painted white on SoCoC10's Highlander - my blue St Louis highlander was as well but I dismissed it as an addition from a prior owner, which I no longer believe to be the case. Here are example pics - anyone with a highlander that has white rear wheel tubs please chime in as we may have have a plant specific variation.
Note white overspray on the retainer spring for the lug wrench. |

I can't find a good example pic of the white step face on mine but glimpses can be seen on the last two photos here: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...36&postcount=4
And this pic shows slight white overspray on the retainer spring like that above: |

The rust repair estimate must've been very high since it's now listed on eBay for $20000 more but same pictures

Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Blazer/Jimmy?
Interesting on the white step face, I took a look at my truck, appears to original paint inside, and mine is body color, you can see the holes for the trim, but otherwise no white

Next step is to try and figure out why some have "two tone" interiors while others do not. The orange blazer above and my blue blazer were built in January and February respectively (1972), both St Louis trucks and neither a promo-pacackage. I'm wondering if the added paint was a plant specific variation and maybe on k5s built before a certain date. Keep your eyes peeled for other examples. |
Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Blazer/Jimmy?
I will pay attention in my travels.
I'll have to look at my build date, sequence number is 166648. Order number on the bottom jkg700 Amazing to me the differences between trucks right out of the factory |
Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Blazer/Jimmy?
First post on here. Trying to figure out exactly how my 1972 Blazer looked from the factory. Wanting to start the process of getting it back to original. It looks like I have an all white exterior, white top with orange Highlander interior. Does anyone have an example of how that interior: seats, trim panels, dash, etc would have looked? Thanks!

Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Blazer/Jimmy?
It's an observation that SPIDs from Flint built highlanders state "Custom Trim Combina(tion)" whereas those from St Louis state the color then "...Highlander Pla(id)".
|
Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Blazer/Jimmy?
Probably answered (1,000 times before!) but since I keep seeing it pop up, how do you tell where your truck was built and why does Flint seem like the place everyone wants theirs to come from?

Here's another example of a highlander with white interior accents. No SPID to confirm whether or not it's a Saint Louis build but the 2x wall top and use of a rear carpet trim strip up front make it more likely than not.
