MC/Booster conversion
does the 11" booster fit on a 72 6 cyl truck?
Looking at this disc/drum one by CPP https://www.summitracing.com/parts/c...ckup/year/1972 or do I need to get the 9"? |

I have a big block in my '70 truck with an 11" booster. You'll be fine.

Thanks, I was more concerned with hood clearance with the CPP unit. Yeah 6 cyl there is plenty of room otherwise
The Summit link says disc/disc for that # which is a misprint according to the Summit tech. Its for a disc/drum system. I am converting from manual to power hey your in Simi...you ever go to R&R Cafe Coachman Cruise 1st Saturdays? |

I'm going to say it might not clear. That's why they put the offset air cleaner on power brake trucks. My pictures are of 1968 and the 1972 air cleaner sits a little lower.

I’ve read somewhere that the six cylinder air cleaner doesn’t fit with the big booster.

Fortunately Summit is good on returns should it not fit. With that said I am not married to the stock air cleaner With that said...would have to look for the circle type filter one for a 1 brl carb like the ones seen so much on....well like my 67 Camaro 4 brl car the 9" version is for disc/disc from CPP |

Make your own air cleaner.
I made several for my dual quad. Just use 1/8 inch thick aluminum sheet. Like in this pic. |

if needed, this would be a plug & play swap. I would just put a breather cap on the VC instead of the hose going to air cleaner

You really should keep the breather inside the air cleaner. You will smell less oil fumes, if the truck makes any. Plus that breather cap will need cleaning to get the accumulated dirt out. If you make one like Geezer says, you can eliminate any booster clearance issues by off setting the stud hole. That would also give room for the breather hose from the valve cover.

This assumes the CPP unit has a clearance issue. Anyone install the CPP 11"? |

The 10 inch air cleaner will not clear that large booster. I put a K&N air cleaner assembly that is about 7 inches and that barely clears.
I'd like to go to a offset oil bath air cleaner if I could find one. |

Yes those pictures are a double bladder like on 3/4 ton trucks. I do believe there is a chance that CPP setup might work.

Thanks for pics Jason. Given the 11" single bladder is thinner than your double, I suspect one of the smaller air cleaner set ups I linked will work. Ideally the 10"
Won't know till I get it in or at least audition in mockup I am not concerned about having a "stock" look for air cleaner. Having power vs manual brakes is the priority. This truck may have a 383 and 5 speed TKX sooner than later.....although the "charm" of the 6 w/3OTT is still nice....and I have 2 other "muscle" cars to satisfy the need for speed the C10's roommate |

As I said above the 10 inch air cleaner will NOT fit with the large booster.
This is a pic of mine. That is the CPP booster and a 7 inch K&N. As you can see my index finger barely fits in between. You are not going to fit a 1o inch in there. |

Yes the smaller air cleaner you linked should fit fine.
I installed a nipple in the manifold right below the carb mounting. Mine had a pipe plug installed from the factory. Yours probably does as well. |

Did the CCP Power Booster swap. Replaced calipers/pads, all soft hoses, wheel cylinders and rear brakes. Truck stops really well now.
The MC/Booster combo was a direct fit. Has adjustable rod to pedal so I lowered the pedal some to give me knee room applying brakes without hitting column shifter The 6 1/2" filter clears easily from the booster. Plumbed the breather into it |
