CPP 73-87 brake booster combo question

hey all, i have an 86 1/2 ton. i want to replace the brake booster/MC/PV on my truck because i switched from the JB3 code to JB5 code hardware (drums/rotors/calipers/wheel cylinders)

my question is. will this CPP combo work for my truck?

cpp part number 7387BB-MC

https://www.summitracing.com/parts/clp-7387bb-mc

called their tech line, they said it is an 11 inch single diaphragm...

or should i just buy the factory parts?

I just installed that on my 1981 C10. I'm a ways from driving it but the quality appears to be really good. I believe it would work well with the JB5 brakes.

It will likely work, but you may have to adjust the pushrod in the booster, otherwise your pedal may be soft when the engine is running.

my concern was the JB3 brakes have a single diaphragm booster, JB5 has a dual diaphragm booster...

since this is aftermarket, i was looking for some feedback from someone who has used in this scenario..., if this one, being a single diaphragm, is it equal to a dual as far as power is concerned?

BEFORE you install it in the truck.

do NOT bench bleed them with the stupid plugs they give you now a days . get a hose kit or make your own from 2 hard lines and a extra set of hard line nuts .

i did one with the plugs and it never felt right clamped in the bench vise using a long screw driver to plung it . took them out and did the hard lines i had ( had to go looking for them ) and the unit belched so much air it wasnt funny . felt super after this . installed and bleed system good to go .

Are the plastic nipple, and hose bench bleed kits from the parts store any good, or should I make some hard lines like yours? I may be replacing a master cylinder myself soon.

just dont use the solid cap plugs . most any hose kit or if you do a few more than the average guy then i like hard line .
