I bought another one! This one goes in the 67 ramp truck.I bought the same one a couple of years ago for my 71 and it's great no problems at all.
The price is right too!

Could you please show pics of how it mounted in the 71 and describe what is needed to mount it? Did you use new rubber pads intended for a four-row original radiator?

My 71 isn't stock by any means. I used a black foam in the bottom of it that sits in the support tray. I doubled up the foam to be higher than the support. It sits on the foam and on top I have a cover made to hold it in place.
The ramp truck will be more stock. I'll have to see how it fits but for the price and the cooling this one does in my 71 it will be worth it.

I think I paid similar for the eBay ec369. 2 row. I like it but it seems pretty thin.

How much lighter is this than a stock radiator? I'd think that most of the weight would be in the water contained right, so for weight savings you'd want to go with as little capacity as possible without overheating?

Re: $155.00 Radiator

The three row is as thick as my old 4 row was. Much lighter though. I don't know about water amount but my 6.0 LS stay @179* all the time even in 90* and above temp outside.:chevy:

No disrespect intended, but you're talking about a truck that even in its lightest version weighs 3500 pounds. Going with a smaller radiator to reduce the amount of coolant doesn't seem like it would make a whole lot of difference. Maybe if you're stripping it down to make the ultimate autocross truck...

Most people use aluminum radiators for superior cooling rather than for weight savings.

Yep, but more important than overall weight is weight distribution. And at that end of the truck, several pounds can have a pretty large impact.

Oh wow, I wish I had known about that before I bought my last radiator. Is it really made in USA for that price?

That looks good and I hope it works well for you. Thanks for posting the link on it.

I don't think they are made here but it has been a good one in my 71 for almost 3 years now.:chevy:

So, do they make one around that price with the inlet on the pass. side?

I am currently trying to decide what to do for a radiator. Let us know how this one works out.

Sorry I never updated this link. I've had this radiator now for 3+ years and not one problem. My 71 C 10 has been in for over 7 years and it's fine to.
CHR racing radiator.
I order all of them for automatic transmissions so if later I want to add the automatic I can, are a oil cooler.

Re: $155.00 Radiator

I have been browsing the CHR radiators on eBay as well. When scrolling down the page, eBay shows other listings which appear to be the same radiator (from GPI or usaclassic). My guess is that they're made in the same factory overseas and then resold through different vendors. I'm seriously considering buying the usaclassic for $188 which comes with fans. Even if the fans are crap, I can use the radiator and shroud.

Do you happen to know the thread size and pitch on the trans cooler inlet/outlet and heater return?

Here is the usaclassic listing: https://www.ebay.com/itm/3Row-Alumin....c101112.m1982

No I do not.

I think your right because these last 2 radiator's showed up in GPI boxes.

I have no complaints on them so far.

Re: $155.00 Radiator

I'm going to gamble and guess that they're 5/16" inverted flare to match factory. I'm most likely going to pull the trigger on that radiator. I'll give it a chance for $188 delivered. Do you mind letting me know the thickness of the tanks? I don't know if my stock radiator saddles will work or if they'll have to be stretched.

The pictures above are of my ramp truck with stock fittings in the stock holes. The ramp truck is a 4 speed but I went ahead and ordered the raidator for auto just in case in the future I want to go that way. Are maybe put a oil cooler in it.
I went out and grabbed some measurements for you. Hope they help. Yes the transmission fittings look to be 5/16" standard.

Re: $155.00 Radiator

Thanks for the fast pictures and measurements! My truck had the 4 speed so we might have the same hold downs so it just might fit without modifications (if it's the same as yours).

I just ordered it, I'll let everyone know how it goes in a couple weeks!

My $200 (delivered) radiator/fans setup showed up yesterday and I installed it last night. I have to say I am very happy with the fit and finish for $200. It fit perfectly in my factory 3-row mounts. It was packaged very well. The radiator is painted a silver/aluminum color but the shroud is bare aluminum.

I have trans cooler fittings on the way (made a guess that they are 5/16" inverted flare). The upper hose is a Gates 22436 and I cut about 2" off the radiator end. I heated up that end and used some soapy water and it wasn't hard to stretch over the inlet. The lower hose is a Gates 22437 and I cut about 3.5" off the thermostat end. Same thing as the upper - I heated up the radiator end and used some soapy water and it wasn't hard to slip it on.

I won't have feedback on initial function until I have my truck running in the next month and won't have long term testing feedback for quite a while, but I'm impressed so far.

That looks great man! Good job.

I went over yesterday to set the cab on the SWB frame for the first time. I ended up setting the radiator support and radiator just to see how it looks.
Looks like a good fit also.

Again good job sir.

Been eying this thread for awhile. Andy, your review of the rad inspired me to go ahead and pick one up. Should be here end of next week

I have one in all of my vehicles and not one problem with any of them.

71 c 10, 67 Ramp truck, 68 Step, 64 SS Impala and 56 Bel Air all have them.
I couldn't ask for a better radiator.

I'm still happy with mine! No leaks, looks great! The fans are cheap, so we'll see how long those last but I didn't have high expectations for them anyway. They're only about $20 each on Amazon.
