90 burb 4x4 question?

I'm just wondering how the front axle "knows" when to engage? With my old Blazer i had to get out and lock the hubs- the 90 Burb has automatic hubs. So i pull the t-case handle into 4hi- what makes the front axle engage?
Thanks,
Steve

When the axle start spinning once you engage 4x4 then they rotate a cam in the hub to lock them. Well that's what you hope they do. Often when you stuck they won't engage if the vehicle is not moving or they will disengage in reverse.

Auto hubs are junk......Get rid of them. Standard locking hub for a D44 or Corp 10 will fit not problem.

Best thing I ever did to my axles was taking out the auto lockers. It's like Grim Reaper said they will fail you when you need them the most. It sucks because you have to know you will need 4x4 before you get stuck. With manual lockers you can drive until you get stuck, get out lock em in and go.
