I thought I post and maybe get some suggestions. I just installed 3 in belltech spindles, 6 in flip kit, new g body front springs, belltech drop shocks, and c notch kit from CPP. The notch kit has sucked. Modified the entire bracket. I only have 1 1/2 clearance from axel to c notch. Not counting bumper. Is that enough? If not, then what? Air socks? Air bags? Different shackle? I like the looks but imight need more ride. Thanks !

You can raise the rear by installing 4x4 blazer rear leaf spring hangers.
These are riveted on.
If you only have 1.5" at the notch,... I bet the "center section" of the rearend is really close to bed floor.

Helper bags would be the easyist solution.
Flip kits are almost too low,... without other mods.

@bruiser I don't even have the bump stop that came with the notch kit on.
@lolife99 how much would the 4 x 4 leafs raise it? Any suggestions on helper bags?

Yes,... the very rear hanger that is riveted to the frame on each side.
Seems like it was 1"-1.5" longer than the 2wd hanger.
(and alot more available at the junk yards)
So it would raise it that much.

For bags,... I would just use an air-over-leaf set-up from RideTech or AirLift.
But you might have to fab the brackets.

@lolife99 I purchased rear hangers for a 4 x 4 and they are exactly the same as a 2wd for a 79. Is there any particular year I need to look for? Maybe use some front ones for the rear or something. I even took off my beltech drop shocks and replaced with Monroe MA727 air shocks. That helped but still too low. Thanks !

The last time I looked for comparison, the 4x4 shackle hangars were indeed taller than the 2wd stuff, did you pull them off a 4x4 yourself?

I kept a set of 2" rear lift springs off a truck I parted out a few years ago.
My plan for my k5 2wd was to do a flip, then use the lift springs to get it to 3-4" total drop.
But after lowering my crew swb (1/2 ton suspension) with a flip I think that amount is perfect for a driver. So I hadn't planned on using the 2" springs on my 2wd k5.
Not sure how old your rear springs are, but new springs will probably lift it at least 1" if you are working with the original springs. Lift springs should get you to where you want to be at.

What did the g-body front springs do for you, I assume lowered it, but how much? (never heard of anyone doing that?)

On a side note, it keeps getting mentioned about problems with the dif hitting the floor; Is the bed floor on a K5/Jimmy lower than a truck?

The Blazer/Jimmy bed floor is about 2" lower- the sills are not as tall.

@kevinrr1970 actually bought a new set from LMC Truck, and it is exactly the same as a 2wd. Same part number even. I would like to find something that I can just buy. As far as the leaf springs go I know I have to take the body off to remove the springs. Kinda crazy but there is no easy way to remove the front bolt. So taller hangers would be perfect. The G body Springs work great! This is actually my second blazer doing that with, but I did not have a problem with the rear like I do with this one. I just ordered brand new ones from Napa for a V6 without air conditioning.

My memory may be fading from trying to remember what I read in SportTruck Magazine back in the 80's.
Maybe it was the 4x4 truck rear hanger.
But I would have swore it was the blazer 4x4 hanger.

Easiest way to remove the bolt,... is to cut the head off and drive it out.
Then install the leaf spring in (with a new bolt) by turning the bolt around the other direction.

@lolife99 man I totally understand now. I was not even thinking about the actual bracket that holds the hanger. Now I need to look tomorrow which bracket I have. Thanks man.

Correct.
That "bracket" is what I call the hanger.
The thing that connects it to the leaf spring is called the shackle.
