Re: '49 chevy with s-10

The wheels are 20x8.5 on front and 20x10 on back. I took them off of my '68 c-10 to clean them and decided to see what they would look like under the ole '49.

I hate it. Take it to my house so you can't see it any more.

love the look of your truck! painted not painted it just looks killer!! the wheel combo is perfect! heres a pict of my daily driver. rain, snow, whatever! its driven. its on an s-10 chassis that has been left stock. the body is channeled over the frame. it rides awsome. keep up the good work!

Thanks for the compliments. I love the look of your truck and the fact that you drive it! As for the paint, for now i'm going to leave it the way it is but the truck belonged to my wife's grandpa and she would like to have it painted sometime in the future.

Can you tell us what suspension you are using etc.

I would like to go 20's but not sure I can get the rearend low enough with just leafs.

not a fan of new wheels on old trucks, but yours looks killer!:metal:

Re: '49 chevy with s-10

The suspension is currently just 2" blocks on factory s-10 leaf springs with the over rides removed. I am in the process of getting a 4 link together for the rear and already have a complete kit (13" rotors,2" drop spindles) for the front end just need to find some time to put it all on. As for the wheels i love white walls but with 13" rotors they wont fit and my wife is not to crazy about them. Thanks!

Re: '49 chevy with s-10

So are those dual bolt pattern wheels, or has one of the trucks been switched?

How low is the body mounted on the frame to get it that low with only 2" blocks in the rear?

rollinrooster 04-21-2010 04:18 PM

Re: '49 chevy with s-10

The wheels are dual bolt pattern (5x5 , 5x4.75). I think the body is mounted 3" off the frame (its been a while since i mounted it). I will try to get some more pictures of the truck asap.

Have you decided on a radiator yet? I have a similar set up on my truck. It looks like you shortened your core support (approximately 4"). I found an alum. radiator on EBay for under 200.00. I like how you created the support for the core support. Very slick

Looks good

I've been looking on ebay and on summit racing for one.I think i found one that is 19"x22" that will work.Is that your truck in the picture? If so i like it alot! Thanks Randall

Re: '49 chevy with s-10

Are you going to just let the top of the radiator hang above the radiator support? I cut the bottom off mine and fab'ed a new lower channel, which made it easier to mount my radiator. This is a 19x22:

Yes that is my truck. The radiator I used is here.

A couple of the things that I liked was the inlet/out locations. I have an LT1 motor in mine, which requires opposite hose locations from a normal small block. Also the bottom tank is notched and this helps to clear the steering box and be able to drop the radiator down slighlty. The price was also right.

Marc, thanks for the link thats a good looking radiator. My truck is just in the begining stages and i'm still not for sure what type motor to go with. For now i have a little 283 in it that i'm using for mock up. As for the radiator support i plan on making a top cover for mine.
