So the GF and I were looking for an old truck to take to town in the evening or of we were going out for ice cream, and to take to cruise ins and the like. Ran across this truck in Greensboro, NC and bought it. It was in fairly good shape. Has a 327 in it, 3 on the tree. I've been doing alot of work on it and figured I'd throw up some pics.

So it was " let's see what's under that metal slab in the bed" day. It wasn't horrible, but wasn't pretty. Quite a day getting that all cleaned out. 6 angle grinder wheels later.... It's all, out.

So the plan is to put a nice wood bed back in. The sills are rotted out up front, so I will take those to the local welding shop. I want it to look like a farm truck, but that bed needs to stick out.

I decided to go a a bit lower with a 3" front, 4" rear spring and shock kit. Getting those old. Bolts out of that rear ha ger was awful. We ended up taking a drill bit and running it up and down beside the bolts to get the rust/dirt out to remove them. The front was not easy either, but I learned a lot about how the front end is put together and what needs replacing. I took the panhard bar off and replaced the bushings, and it went right back in place. For those worried about the drop, I didn't need anything special with the 3/4. Everything went back in place and I'm not bottoming out. The only issue was that the muffler shop said the bed was too close to the frame to run the pipes over the axle. So they came out in front of the rear wheels.

How she currently sits. We took the old wheels and "maypops" off. It had five wheels with it and not one tire matched on it. Put new rubber on 15x8 truck rallys. New lugs and bought the factory centers and trim rings. Debating painting them white or the blue . Haven't decided.

Found some beautiful rough cut black Walnut locally. Dry. We have cut it down, and have been planing on it. Have one more planing session to do to get it to 3/4 in thickness. I'm looking at this old beautiful wood asking myself why I am not making a table top out of it. Ha! I have to decide on a finish.... There are so many opinions on this site. Hard to pick one.

Not sure why all my pics are oriented incorrectly, I uploaded them off my phone, but maybe that was the issue... Ill fix them in the thread, if I can figure out how....

Had new exhaust put on the truck, Magnaflow mufflers. gives it a nice growl, but not too loud for driving down the road. Like I mentioned previously, the lowering kit prevented the guy from running them all the way to the back. I'm sure there is a way, but this is what I got.

Once I uploaded the picture to my computer and posted it, it was oriented correctly. Guess it doesn't like my phone.

Im having some bubbling where the front drip rail has been leaking down into the pinch weld above the windshield. I have new rubber for the windshield, but am afraid to take it out until I have a place that can fix it. Is there replacement sheet metal for that, or do most people just fab it?
