Removed old gas tank as step one for installing the EFI kit and new tank. I also figured out why the Jimmy rained gas when I filled it up! I guess the PO thought JB Weld was a good idea?
Photo of my dog, just because he's mad that I have ignored him today.

Replaced a busted headlight retainer. The screws from LMC are incorrect, so reused the originals. Also replacing the gauge cluster. Going to order a connector so it won't be done today

I agree with the screws, no where else are they used, the pointed end helps to align. I alays keep extras around

for the life of me, can't figure out your backgroud, is it a truck part?

Did you find this a difficult project? The install of the tach and vac guages?

I'd like to do the same.

Cluster swap/upgrade isn't too hard. It's a half day project. If your K5 wasn't equipped with a tach originally you need to plan where to route the tach harness - I've drilled the 0.75" firewall hole in the correct spot, it's easy and there are a few threads dedicated to this. Use a line wrench to loosen the oil pressure line if so equipped in order to avoid stripping the brass. Good time to swap steering column too if that's on the menu. If you need a tach/vac cluster check with Tbone Tom as he provides a good service.

I decided to tackle refurbishing a spare hatch I have. I separated the two sides and am starting to remove hardware that refused to come off. (One of the latches had the welded nuts break from the spot welds and I couldn’t get it off until the hatch interior was exposed.)

I can’t get the struts to come loose. Been spraying it with PB Blaster. Started drilling out one sides screws (those things are tough! Still haven’t made it through them yet).

Sorta following this thread but with more miss steps...

Anyone know what these are? They were only on one side and I haven’t seen them on other hatches with the latches removed.

The circle is around what looks like an anti rattle bumper. Mine had foam blocks stuffed inside the lower area where the latch rods are. That looks like it could be a stock piece.

Yes, I have a few rods with the same boot on them. I wouldn't drill the strut bolts out if you have access to a welder. Weld a nut to the head and then try to turn it out. The corner window seal bolts are the same, I have more if you need them. How or what did you use to split the hatch in half.

I used a thin putty knife and hammer to tap the putty knife into the seam between the two halves. I went slow and it worked pretty well.

That’s a great idea for the strut bolts. I don’t have access to a welder but maybe I can have a local guy that does welding do it for me. I’ll make some calls.

Second day of stay home order, I got my new cluster wired up and installed. Still have to install the huge oil pressure sensor, which I am not looking forward to. But other then that, everything is hooked up.
