Phenolic Spacer for 1 bbl Rochester carbs

1 Attachment(s)
Just wanted to let forum members know that I just had great customer service getting a 1/2" phenolic spacer for the 1 bbl carb on my stock 250 inline 6 custom made.

It was from Dashman's Hotrod and Speed Parts on ebay and only cost me $24 shipped.

I've been having a bit of the dreaded hard start when hot syndrome and went looking for the right spacer. Had a hard time finding one specific to my M-MV Rochester carb, so I contacted Dashman's after seeing some of their work on ebay. They hadn't made one specific to my application yet, but someone there by the name of Ben personally responded to my msg and worked with me to get the exact measurements needed to fabricate it.

It arrived yesterday afternoon, and I had it installed in about an hour. Took it for a drive before turning in and had the pleasant surprise of noticeable increase in performance as well. Haven't had a chance to test the heat insulating effect on the carb, but have no reason to believe it won't do what it's supposed to.

I have no affiliation with Dashman's what so ever, but just wanted to give them a shout-out and let other members who might be looking for the same piece. They are also willing to work with you to create other custom applications.

The listing for the one I just purchased currently falls under the title:

For Rochester Monojet 1ME 1MV MV M GM Carburetor Insulator Phenolic Spacer 1/2"

Hope this helps someone else!

Do you have a manual choke and use it when starting hot?

Nice to read of some one wanting to work with an individual for a needed part. Kinda rare these days of big box stores and vendors.

Yes manual choke. Don't usually need it when starting hot.

I do have a problem where I think the fuel boils and causes the engine to cut out. It's only happens when running wide open on the highway, when it's hot. Truck had 4:10 gears and I'm trying to run 70 with stock 3 speed...

Could be fuel pressure or lack of timing.

Did it with the stock points distributor and also when I put the HEI in and added timing.

I guess I could get some type of fuel pressure gauge, or sending unit and data logger. But it also did it with old fuel pump and new pump and filter.

I can take it out cold and go 70 until it warms up.

Something about heat and driving up hill(even with full tank) make it do it. When it happens I just back off the gas to about 65 mph and it's fine.

I used a sheet of aluminum once and made a heat shield sandwiched between two base gaskets on a Rochester 2g carb.
Kept the carb running cool.
Kinda like this Holley 4bbl shield.

Apologies to 69c10 for high jacking his thread.

No worries, Geezer! Always appreciate other people's good ideas. I'll keep that in mind if I still have any issues. Ran some errands in the truck today without any problems, but of course, its getting a bit cooler here in Maryland now.
