1958 Frame Swap Help
I am new to the 50s truck and just bought a 1958 Apache short step with a hacked up stock frame to fit in a v8. I found a decent looking frame though craigslist ( http://houston.craigslist.org/pts/957970901.html ) and want to know what you think? It is a 66 with a 71-72 front clip bolted on.
I am paying a little more for the bags and delivery but it does not come with a compressor or tank which is not too big a deal. (I will not be dropping and lowering it a lot.) I do not have a welder and this seems to be an upgrade that wont need much in the welding and fabrication department because it seems to have been already done for the same truck I have. Is is a decent deal for under 500? I should be getting it this saturday. He informed me he is selling it to get an s10 frame for his 1958 project so he can slam it to the ground. |
Re: 1958 Frame Swap Help
did the owner actually have the 55 cab and everything bolted down and driving the truck, if so its sounds like one hell of a deal good luck, should be an easy swap then. i myself am doing the s-10 swap on my 57

He has the 58 cab bolted and the fenders just hanging to show the fit, but ensued that the frame is set up for the 58

Re: 1958 Frame Swap Help
when you get botl down your cab, make sure its square, if possible set in a m/t then hang front fenders, upper and lower grill bar, then inners and rad support. looking the pics it looks good so it might be a somewhat easy swap
just take pics as ya go and we all will help ya as much as possible |
Re: 1958 Frame Swap Help
