Power seats on Burbs?

Can anyone tell me if later model Suburbans (90-91) were available with a power drivers seat?

Ok, this is what I wanted to hear. Now to verify, are your power seats factory GM or aftermarket? I know they were available on conversion seats, just trying to confirm they were available on GM seats from the factory.

I don't know actually. They are the "captain buckets". The switches are chrome plated and look stoke but i'm not sure where they mount. I'll explore tomorrow.

Thanks. Pics would be awesome if you can.

Re: Power seats on Burbs?

i had seats from a 1990 burb that were power captains and were stock...you can mount in a standard 82-87 pickup cab if you bend the rear mounts on the seats to an upwards angle . the rear mounts on the burb bend downwards at about a 45% angle and the pickup bend upward at about a 45% angle. I made the bend with a 3 ft pipe wrench. the fronts match and i used the stock mount holes, front and rear, on the pickup. i lost the pickup in a divorce about 5 years ago but i'll see if i can find pics later tonight

Re: Power seats on Burbs?

Ok, that's great news. I have found several Burbs but none of them had "factory" power seats. I have set of lowback buckets I want to put in my 77 Cheyenne. I would like power brackets, and I "thought" they were available in 90-91 Burbs (maybe Blazers too).

After some research, I can't find anything in the GM brochures that confirms this was an option.

I didn't want to be looking for a Unicorn...:)

Let me ask a guy that I know that works in parts a a Chevy place and see what he can find.

Re: Power seats on Burbs?

I don't think they were factory offered Ken, most likely they are conversions. I could be wrong...but I have never seen or heard of power seats in our trucks.

Re: Power seats on Burbs?

Jeff I agree, but I just have to confirm. I talked to Tony, Chris, and a couple of other knowledgeable 73-87 guys about this. We looked at all the brochure we had and could not find anything there either.

Despite all that it seems that some of us still feel that the option was available. I thought a post here might give us some insight.

It's kind of like the intermittent wiper option on 77 trucks. There is no record of that being an option and "almost" everyone will tell you it doesn't exist. If it weren't for the fact that I have two intermittent switches that I can prove came from 77 trucks, we would have to believe it wasn't available.

Re: Power seats on Burbs?

i can no longer find pictures with the power seats installed but i do remember they were gm power seat assemblys or at least had gm stamped on them.edit...they also used factory wiring on the seats. i remember robbing it when i put them in the p/u and i had to pull almost all of the dash to get it out i do not believe they came from a conversion as it had a factory center console installed (same as any blazer) and had no extra badging or conversion markings. then again i could be wrong as i didn't purchase the suburban new.

Re: Power seats on Burbs?

Dang it. Still not 100% sure. I'll keep looking. I think I will buy some manual brackets for now.

Re: Power seats on Burbs?

I've probably looked at 500 + and owned a half dozen 87/91 Burbs and some were heavily optioned and I've never seen one with factory power seats.

Re: Power seats on Burbs?

Already Gone- Based on everything we have discovered I think you are correct. I believe that the power seat rumor came from owners that "thought" they were factory.

Hmmm? Back to the drawing board.

I've been sick as hell, but I'll try my best to snap some photos today.
Keep in mind the few years the power mirrors were around.

Re: Power seats on Burbs?

your build sheet decoded (sorry for the hijack)
AJ1 : WINDOW TINTED, DEEP, ALL EXCEPT W/S AND DRS
AS3 : SEAT, RR, SUBURBAN
AT5 : SEAT RR, CTR, FLDG
AU3 : LOCK CONTROL, SIDE DR, ELEC
AXP : ??????
A31 : WINDOW, POWER OPERATED, SIDE
A52 : SEAT, FRT BENCH
so yours were not factory power buckets...and i'm done decoding for today just realized i'm late for work

Hey Ken , Not hijacking this thread but I have a 77 with intermittent wipers and the original owner states that he specifically ordered them .

Re: Power seats on Burbs?

Frank- Intermittent wipers were an option for 77. Unfortunately they were poorly designed and frequently failed.

I have three units, and two of them are bad...;)

Re: Power seats on Burbs?

Hmm, I may have to explore this. It seems like it's an option but I will check at work later. If it was an option it will be in the gm parts catalog.
