Lowering my 94 GMC
I am going for a 3 / 5 drop. I found some 3 inch drop springs for around $100. What about the rear ? The truck is a 94 GMC Siera 1/2 ton 2wd. Whats the best method to obtain a 5 inch drop in the rear. Trying to make it cheap and easy. Thanks

U are going to do 3" drop coils up front?? Hmmm. I think I would go 2" drop spindle + 1" drop spring.

Re: Lowering my 94 GMC
5" drop in the rear is an odd drop amount.
More common is 4" drop with 2" shackle & 2" hanger, 6" flip kit with c-notch, or a 7" drop with flip kit, 1" shackle, & c-notch. I would go with 2" spindle & 1" spring if you are set on 3" drop. 3" drop springs would very likely give a soft & spongy ride. |
Re: Lowering my 94 GMC
3" drop spring are going to really limit the amount of travel left in the suspension and mess with your alignment. My not be able to get it lined up properly. Spindles make a lot more sense and then cut a little bit off the springs if you trying to save money.
With a 5" drop in the rear your are going to need a spring notch. Even with a notch I still bottom out on hard bumps sometimes. Without it would be constantly hitting the frame/bump stops. |

Thanks. After looking at all the pictures, I think I will just go with 2 inches in the rear for now. Just level it out, and go from there.
