This part needed if doing a vintage air conversion?

Before I restore this part and buy new hardware, I think its not needed after deleting the heater box for the Vintage Air conversion right? Or no?

I think that piece is there in an attempt to keep trash and debris out of the air box. If you are just using a block off plate there, you don't have to restore that piece if you don't want to.
My 63 does not have the heater box on the outside. I don't think my truck has that piece |

correct, that is a water/debris diverter for the old heater. You won't need it.
