Re: Father / Daughter ’70 Short Bed Resto…
Glad to see a project coming together... your daughter will get more involved once the metal starts being put back on the frame and it begins to look like a truck again.
as for GA, that is correct. No title required in this state for that age of vehicle. Bill of Sale is all that is required here. hopefully you can get it all worked out! will |
Re: Father / Daughter ’70 Short Bed Resto…
Well 2016 is gone and we're into 2017.....
HAPPY NEW YEAR to all of you out there!!! Hope 2017 keeps you all safe and healthy to continue turning those wrenches and rubbing on that sheet metal. Not much to report on my project for December...it was a slow month for me. Progress will however be in abundance in the forthcoming weeks!!!! Happy New Year to you all again.... |
Re: Father / Daughter ’69 Short Bed Resto…
Hello all...I'm starting the hunt for a Windshield Wiper Mounting Plate for my resto project...any pointers?
So I'm good now on this search. Thanks to everyone's inputs. |
Re: Father / Daughter ’70 Short Bed Resto…
Check the parts board. There are usually a few members parting out trucks. craigslist may also provide you with the necessary pieces.

Re: Father / Daughter ’70 Short Bed Resto…
Have you gotten to the interior and if so what are you doing with the bench seat? I may need the bottom part, or all of it. I have new upholstery but bad frame. Thanks

I'm starting to wonder if you fell off the face of the earth. Any updates on the truck?

Hi all, nope I have not fallen off the face of the earth, however progress on my restoration project seems to have.
Progress has been slow...extremely slow, but yet I am getting some stuff done on it here and there. I will be posting pictures here on this reply just to update some of the stuff that I’ve been doing. Still hitting a lot of bodywork and starting to get the cab in primer. Some last minute patch replacements: |
Re: Father / Daughter ’70 Short Bed Resto…
Hey EZ, I live in Ga and deal with my local DMV all the time. I am able to purchase vehicles' and motorcycles from my adjoining states at very low prices as they have to have a currant title even on their old stuff in order to tag it. BUT, while I enjoy the low purchase price, it really hurts my overall resale value as folks in other states can t purchase from me as they cannot title I their home state....as you have seemed to state.
What I was told last week at my local tag office is that when folks in Ga sell to out of state folks and they only have a bill of sale , but have had the vehicle registered and tagged , is that GA DMV will call said state and vouch for said auto is not stolen and is/was registered in Ga. Based on that SOME title states are now permitting registration. Not sure this would help you, but maybe. |

Been trying to get some more pics post but I sometimes lack patience with my phone. Lol. I’m sure many of you can relate. :mm:
So here I was fitting the cab as the complete floor, firewall and all four Lower corners and door jam patches were replaced. Yea, was a crap lot of welding and replacing... |

Getting the stock seat frame ready for the new foam and covering...learned a simple and neat trick to keep the ends from sagging by simply welding a t-support across the length of the top side spring rod. You can see what I’m referring to in the pics.

Starting the body work on the cab...long time coming. There’s been a lot of work done with the cab that really can’t be seen. For instance, I formed/boxed out the original vent openings to fit some bad ass 6x9 speakers, when I realized that water from the cowel area had the potential to get to the speakers...so I had to figure out how best to get in there (the inner cowel space where water drains) to total close up/seal the speaker area, and still have a controlled drain for any water coming in through the cowel vents. Yea....that was a fabrication feast!!!!! But it’s done and sealed up.

HOT DANG!!!!! As I started to put the bench seat together and ready it for the new foam and upholstery, I realized I had the wrong 69/70 seat frame...yup, one of the previous owners had swapped out the seats at some point. So off I went to Orval's to confirm my suspicion and returned with the correct seat frame. So once again I was back to cleaning and repairing another seat frame...this time the correct year for what I needed. |
