Rear End Lenght Help!
 
I HAVE A 5 LUG REAREND WITH A 3:73 GEAR. I WILL BE DRIVING IT DOWN THE INTERSTATE TO THE HIGH SCHOOL SO... I AM GOING TO PUT A 9 IN. FORD IN IT WITH A 3:08 GEAR. JUST WONDERING HOW LONG THEY ARE OUR REAR ENDS ARE AND ALSO HOW MUCH CAN I SHORTEN IT. THANKS

Not to give a short answer but why don't you measure it. By the way all 9" Fords are not the same length.

you can shorten a 9" ford pretty damn short if needed(if tubbing the rear). One thing to think about, is that the pinion is offcenter on the ford, so when you shorten it you may want to cut a little more off 1 side to center the pinion under the truck. i cant help on widths, its been to long since i played with those measures. good luck.....longhorn:bowtie:
