Still can't see the part numbers.
Even after blowing up the last two pictures you posted.
Please post even closer up pictures of the part numbers.

Even closer up pics of the part numbers.

The part numbers should be

394 1732-4 for driver's side and
394 1733-4 for the passenger side.

I can see the 1733-4 on the one. On the other I see the 173 then probably some damage from the hook being used as a hook. Nice set of original hooks.

Those are without a doubt original factory tow hooks.
The part numbers are not very prominent on most tow hooks but can clearly be seen in the pics

anyone have a set with two separate part numbers or at least a picture?

both of my 69-72's look like the OP's, same p/n and foundry mark on left and right hook..

They are all the same part numbers and even the extremes have the same number if they have numbers on them, extremes often don't have part numbers.

I have extremes with part numbers but they are barely there. I don’t think the reproduced ones are forged? At least that’s what I’ve heard.

My extremes don't have any numbers. I thought they had been worn off. The truck they came off of used them to drag logs with chains.

I suspect the process of going extreme when making the hooks removed the very light part number that some have. Mine is barely as in you only can see the part number because you know where to look there.

Absolutely believe that these are original GM tow hooks, which are all forged.

But I am going to pass because I want the part numbers to be clearer on the hooks. Especially with the high cost of the original tow hooks.

Thanks to the other forum members who posted input. Helped me.
I did not know that part number clarity varied so much.
But this is might also be caused by wearing of the forging die. So the letters are not raised as much on the tow hook.

The aftermarket ones I have seen on eBay are castings. Highly recommend against using them because the forgings are significantly stronger.
Realize the cast ones may be purchased for show, appearance only.
But over time some subsequent owners may actually use our trucks off road and use these cast tow hooks. This would be a bad deal. GM used forgings for the greater strength. Just like other tow hooks, for example on the big Class 8 trucks.

I am a retired mechanical engineer and worked many years in procurement.
I purchased a lot of different designs of castings and forgings. The separate stamp/mark is not a foundry mark. Foundries only do castings. The mark is a forging companies stamp.
Because the two hooks are so expensive - unobtanium, I have been studying out tow hooks for awhile now. Sorry for the long post.

Most of the extremes don't have part numbers but still usually have the symbol with the "U" in it.
