Front fender gasket help

While I'm waiting on my dad to return to do the big stuff trying to research and be ready. Having trouble understanding my fender gasket kit for the front. Theres only a little rubber left on my truck (a thin layer where the fender runs near the cowl to the door. And a little running down the large fender surface where it mounts to the cab but is rotten and disformed . so have not much reference. I have 3 different types of rubber sent in my kit. I'm assuming 1 goes under the inner fender, number 3 looks like it might be the one that goes outer fender to cab and then would the u shaped one slide on the inner fender where it comes near the firewall. I just didnt remember that touching the firewall but it's ben awhile haha. Also seems where I have a layer like material number 1 it's not shown in the fender kit diagrams as covered.

Its tempting to think the u shaped one would go on the inner fender surface labeled 1 in the photo since it would cushion the fender and the hood surface but the pictures make that seem wrong haha

Also I'm assuming these would also be glued down a bit? Thank you. Oh and I just had to out a fender on to see. Been over a year since it kinda looked like a truck

1) i used double sided tape to hold on and fill in the blank spots. it is anti squeak and water sealing.

2) is a little tricky to make it look good. i filled the U with glue/caulk and taped it tight. once installed i pushed it back into the body, used a lot of tape to keep it clamped. i shaved the firewall standing seam, i left enough to fill the inny on the inner fender :D

3) bad pic but i glued it to the fender, it's obvious where it goes. if you still have your fender on you can probably stick it in the gap at the hinge end. zoom in on the pic., inside of my fender and inner fender and bottom of cab has rhino liner bedliner on it

58-9 inner fender goes on before fender, i believe 55-7 can go on before or after fender

Tha k

Thank you for the help. Sorry if I'm being deft but for number 2 are you saying you filled the inner u channel and taped it together to dry and then shoved it on the truck after? Or meaning fill it with caulk and then shove on the truck tape till dry?

My brakes didnt end up fitting so waiting kon that problem solved before I tackle this one haha. But your truck is just so sweet!! Thank you for sharing photos

this. i installed the U-strip as i installed the inner fender. smucked the glue in, taped on inner fender, installed inner fender. then where there were gaps to the body, pulled the tape up and pushed the rubber closer to body, re-tape. most of the rubber was fine as is.

you can see in the picture above and below how the 58-9 inner fender bolts on to the radiator core. the fender and grill bolt to the inner fender. it is my understanding 55-57 is different

Yeah mine is kinda different. My inner fender supports the hood support bar and does have some attachments for the grill but I feel the outer should mount 1st and then the inner because the inner sits on top of the outer. Which yours seems it might also. Probably could start the same way as you with inner and then outer. Right now trying to figure how to cut my inner fender for mustang clearance since its already painted eep! Then I will try mounting everything
This is only photo I have at the moment.

different, but similar. base of the 58-9 build is the radiator support
everything builds off of that, 3 holes here, go to the inner fender
i see less parts on the later models = less labor
